insomnia

ive learned that the computer doesnt help so i try to get off by 2 ish

i had it real bad a year or so ago and i used to read a bunch
but now its back plus my eyes have gone to sh*t so i wind up either staring at the wall listening to the radio or walking aimlessly around town

the only nice thing is that when i need to crunch time for work and school i am fine cause im used to only a couple hours of sleep

ever gotten to that point where your half asleep and half awake and start seeing things - it drives me nuts cause i think ive had conversations w ppl that never happen

Pretty much doing any kind of monotonous and boring task is bound to knock you out. I play a few rounds of solitaire or something before going to be usually, seems to help.

I get the same thing time to time, and I agree, exercising is #1. If i cant sleep, a mile or two run will knock me out most times.

However, obviously the alcohol effect varies from person to person. Some ppl catch a buzz and start bouncing off the walls. Me... give me a couple shiner bocks or a couple fingers of whiskey and I'm ready to sleep for the doctor recommended 7 hours.

Read your states unemployment regulations,or the Federal code of regulations,Took me weeks to get through it,kept falling asleep.

That's what I do, minus the hot shower and sandwich.

:icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

I usually read a bit, it calms my mind down and usually lets me realize i actually am tired.

you're in Cali! go get a med card and smoke a bowl. you'll be sleeping good!

i actually just start working on something and work on it till i have to go to work and then stay up till 9 or 10 and after 36 to 48 hours its not hard to sleep and look how much you get done.

I find the tv sends me to sleep. Haven't figured out what I'm going to do in a few days when the tv broadcasts stop.

Some good, and some funny suggestions...

Exercise may not help if you do it too close to bedtime...the adreneline rush keeps me awake for five or six hours after a workout...

I find stretching my legs and torso helps me sleep...and not the rack type of stretching...

There is another technique that helps me...visualization...I lay down to sleep like normal...close my eyes, and force myself to see images of peaceful settings...like a rolling hillside on a beautiful sunny day...or whatever you find peaceful...within a few minutes I'm sound asleep...

Avoid scary movies, looking in the mirror (lol) or any thoughts of fighting, arguing, or otherwise upsetting events...just let go Luke...

I do that too, usually camping trips for me.

Cool!

Not sure if everyone has experienced this, but I'm sure some have...just before I'm asleep, but not quite there, I start to dream...not really dreaming, but my mind just starts floating off with some image and my whole thought process or dream state takes over...

It's kinda weird and I think I've always done it but it seems to have intensified in the last decade or so...and I have to say that the feeling is really comforting...sorta like on another plane of reality...if I could patent that mental state I'd be filthy wealthy...

Sometimes, not always though. I've noticed that if it goes right sometimes I'm in a state of "meditation" alomst; aware of surroundings, but physically "numb" (theres a medical term for it but I can't think of it at the moment).

self hypnotized?

ive done this before and theres a wikipedia entry on it.

even if you dont have problems sleeping, i def reccommend it, its really really cool the next day to reflect on your state

13 years of steady night shift, i have not slept at night in years i feel your pain. have tried every thing under the sun to sleep like a normal person from counting sheep to taking pills nothing works ill go some times 3 days without sleep and when i do sleep i might sleep for 2-3 hrs at a stretch and thats from 8 am to 10 or 11 am then i sleep from 2 to 5 pm every day before work i have just learned to live that way. good luck
