Question about clutch disengagement

I test drove a 2003 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0 4x4 with the 4.10 gears today with roughly 65,000 miles on it. The first thing I noticed when I tried to back it up was that the clutch doesn't seem to disengage until the pedal is pretty far out (I'd say 65-75% but I'm not exactly sure). Is this typical for newer Ford Rangers or is it a sign of the clutch going out. At 70mph revs were at 2600rpm which seemed about right to me and the clutch felt otherwise pretty strong.

the hydraulic clutches in these trucks is non-adjustable, so it disengages wherever it wants and there isnt much you can do about it. as long as there is no air in the lines, its likely just fine.

Is this a normal grabbing point for the clutch in the Ranger though?

my 1998 comes out about that far now... and has since I got it in 01 when it had 60k on it and now has 172k. It is fine.

BTW I am wanting to go test drive the same kind of truck you did

I liked it enough that I'll probably buy it next month if he still has it. The 4x4 works incredible in it and it was a pretty smooth ride. Brakes were surprisingly strong. I climbed up a steep icy road as if it were dry in 2nd gear. I'd compare it to my current car but its apples to oranges.

I figured it might be normal, I just wanted to check to see other people have the same experience with it. I vaguely remember driving a friend's 04' with 17k miles on it and from what I remember the clutch felt about the same. This one has 65k miles on it.
