Does anybody know where I can find a decent off-road bumper and suspension lift for an 01 4x4 ranger 4.0, I've been having a tough time finding bumpers and the lifts for the tortion bar set up are expensive as hell

lifting the 98+ rangers is mall crawler turd polishing. not to mention makes you want to cry when you see the price tag.

i highly recommend you contact a local fab shop. any good fab shop can make you anything you want for less than a aftermarket bumper. you can decide everything from design to thickness of the steel.

gonna say I like the 08' with a lift on it makes it a little more easier to conquer the offroad events that require a little more clearence?

I gotta a FABTECH 3" spindles in the front and added a leaf in the rear I dont know how much more expensive the tortion bar setup would be?

you cant get that much travel out of the 98+ rangers regardless of how much lift you get. CVs do not do well in vehicles lifted more than a few inches.

IMO when you use a supspension lift on a CV equipped vehicle all you are doing is raising your center of gravity, making enough room for a slightly bigger tires and increasing your chances of a rollover. you dont gain much if any flex, LOWER durability of your CV joints, increase ball joint wear, steering wear, etc.

if you want a lifted mall crawler go for it but a rear locker will get you more off road capabilities than a 3 inch lift.

a lifted stock vehicle wont stand a chance against a stocker with a rear locker and some good stock size MTs or better.

unless you are playing in mud, tire size, lockers and travel means more than lift. NO you do not need your vehicle to ride much if any higher than stock to get more travel.

FYI i have less lift than you (2-3 inches), and run 33s.

lifting 98 and up 2wd's is not that bad, it's the 4wds that are a pain in the butt, you need the differential drop bracket, the bigger knuckles, and much more, that's why they're so expensive, plus the SLA setup doesn't flex as well, than a SAS or even the TTB

Not arguing with you but how if you are higher off the ground do you not benefit by having more clearence and less of a chance scraping the bottom of your truck? My shits not a lifted mallcrawler either I actually take my truck out in the dirt and use it. It isnt just parked in the driveway after cruising the mall for females.

height gained from tires is king in the wheeling world period. scraping the bottom of my truck? are you kidding me? i am happy i go home with all my glass after i go wheeling.

a higher center of gravity is BAD when wheeling.

please tell me i am not arguing with a guy who is talking about wheeling his 2wd?

that is why if someone has a dedicated wheeling rig they cut the bed and the frame off right behind the rear spring hangers and cut the bed to fit. frankly, the b2s are between 6-16 inches shorter than the ideal wheelbase (100-110) for a dedicated wheeling rig (b2s are 94). the ideal RBV to use for wheeling (if you cut the bed to fit) is a standard cab short bed because the wheelbase is within that 100-110 range. b2s are NOT as good at hill climbs as a extended cab rangers because wheel base is key when you are climbing because its harder to pull the front end off the ground. from what a buddy of mine said i did a wheelie in the b2 last time we went out wheeling, if i had a slightly longer wheel bast i mite of not done the wheelie and made the climb i was attempting.

OHH trust me, i will make a extended cab ranger go any place my b2 does, it just wont have a straight panel after i am done. wait, whats the difference? my b2 does not have a straight body panel anyway.....

the picture above was taken after i did my wheelie and bounced to the right. the only thing touching up front is my d35 pig resting on a rock, neither tire was on the ground. if it was not for that rock i would of had myself, 300lbs worth of unsecured gear, and a guy i did not know laying on the passenger side of my b2.
