hey, my 2000 mountaineer cranks but will not start. the "fuel reset" light comes on when turning the ignition switch to "run"...it has never done this before. it was fine, i drove home, shut it off then 2 hours later it wouldn't start. it did start up an run for about 10 seconds then nothing, like it was out of fuel but it has plenty in the tank. any ideas??

That light is for the Inertia Switch, meaning it has tripped. It removes power from the fuel pump in an impact.

It should be in the PS footwell, right about where the passenger's toes hit the incline (pull the carpet back). Push the red reset button.

It may need replaced. Cheap part.

kinda weird it tripped sitting in the driveway....i will check that out.

thanks....

Read your Owner's manual, should be in there!

And the switch could be bad. Again, it's an easy, cheap part.

so if it is the inertia switch, can i just bypass it for now? does it have a fuel pump test terminal like the older fords? if so where would be located? sorry for all the ?? but i have to go 25 miles out in the country to try and get it going for my ex-wife and would like to take what ever i can think of to get it going for her.

well, i don't know what to make of this! "fuel reset" light comes on with ignition in "run" ....i hear the fuel pump come on, crank and boom it starts!! tried it several times with only one failure, it started and then died like no fuel, every other time it started just fine.
