Getting bored with internet... Anyone else?

life is only what people make of it .if you let stuff bother you then you will be unhappy in life . if you disagree with something?
1) prove that the answer is wrong buy suporting a link or news article to your defence.
2) just go with the flow and just consider the sorce.
3)just don't log in for a well and take some time off till things pass.

JUST REMEMBER TOM HANK'S QUOTE IN THE MOVIES....
"LIFE'S LIKE A BOX OF CHOCOLATES YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YA GONNA GET"

Yep, TRS is the shit. Knowledgeable members, GREAT everchanging tech section, easy to read. I lifted "suspension" my truck myself using hand tools and printed pages from this website. Unheardof considering the biggest thing Ive done prior to this is a brake pad replacement on my tempo. And any questions I had along the way were answered the day I posted them. I just may have to throw down the cash for the premium membership. I didnt really understand it before, thought it was like a glorified internet bragging right but now realize it helps this site stay alive. Thanks everyone....oh yeah I also installed new axles, 1 piece driveshaft blah blah blah. Next up the engine compartment.

Forums are like going to bars or resturaunts. You check some out until you find the one that offers the 'stuff' and atmosphere you're looking for. Sometimes you go because you like the people that hang out there, or you just like what the establishment has to offer, or maybe it's the staff/service.

Sometimes you can frequent a place for years and then move on because the clientel changes and you just don't like to hang out there. Sometimes it just gets old and you're looking for something new on the menu.

I see more and more sites on the net created by people who think they can do better. It seems they all have their own unique feel and target a certain crowd. I've seen sites where it seems like one person posts some new conversion or mod that nobody has done and nobody asks questions. Everyone just posts how wonderful the peron is for doing it or how great it looks when it doesn't even describe how they did it. Other sites crucify you if you ask a question and you have to post a paragraph disclaimer that you used the search before even thinking of asking a question, and then put on your bullet proof vest, grab a fire extinguisher, and wait for the replies. Some forums are just boxes and you can't go their and think outside of their box.

You can't be everything to everyone and TRS will never be everything to everyone. We were the first site on the internet dedicated to 4x4 Rangers. RPS was the first on the net to cater to the street guys (I have a lot of respect for Jim Karnes and his dedication to RPS over the years). Us older sites pretty much get labeled as being either a 4WD or 2WD site. I'm dedicated to the RBV's and giving people what they want. There has been a request for some specific forums here and I've provided them knowing that we'll never replace sites that already target those discussions. That doesn't meen we can't offer a place here for discussion. It kind of goes back to my comparisons using bars and resturaunts. Just because it's not a bar doesn't meen you can't offer a few drinks on the menu.

I know things have been political around here lately. There are a lot of emotions right now about our country and our economy. We try to keep discussions that may get people bent out of shape in the Garage forum so the regular 'customers' don't have to see them and get upset. If you go in the Garage forum and don't like the content, then don't read it. Avoid that forum.

I have been breathing new life in to TRS updated pages and searching for new information. There is a lot to do. I just took a short page on Wheel Travel and rewrote it over a (2) day period. In a few days I'll re-read and probably find a mistake or something I forgot to add, but we're working on it. I'm starting to see some good information popping up in some peoples build threads that could make up a few tech articles just in themselves.

The most important thing to remember about websites is that their success comes from the sites members. When you put on a set of extended radius arms, an F-250 shock mount, swap in a set of seats or add a console and post pics and information in a build thread, it may not be any big deal to you, but it may either help or motivate another member or lurker to do the same.

People ALWAYS use the internet to find information. If you don't have it, they'll search for it somewhere else.

You had me right up until you started into a religious rant...

IM am a member of almost every ranger forum there is. from RPS to ORR, R-F and TRS, i have to say the manner of how this are seen are much more respectable on this forum, I used to be on RPS all the time but it got really old seeing some ranger with fuzzy dice and mustang rims. now im not saying my truck is great. or modded beyond anyone elses but if i wanted to look at stock rangers i can drive around town. ORR kinda is dead now no one is really posting there. R-F is the same questions over and over and over again. and TRS with the tech pages helps with alot of the noob/stupid questions... and yes i agree you had me untill you went all churchy on us.

Damn, Jim; great post . . .

TRS is really a great website. There's certainly the common bond, of simply "Ranger based vehicles", but there's also an outstanding pool of technical expertise, a membership of great people, and a first-rate staff keeping it all together.

What is unique about TRS, though, is that the different interests, such as off-road, street, stock, trash-hauler or junker, all blend together quite well. There's the great dialog always going on about RBVs, along with a lot of topics that have absolutely nothing to do with our trucks. It's a very good mix, of topics and people.

Sure, there's occasional rudeness and differences of opinion; that's part of life. But by far, this is THE place you can go to if you need help with something, or just to hang out with friends.

Hat's off to you, Jim, and to everybody else here.

I went throught that with my audi forum its started getting all commercialize stupid adds poppin up everywhere things getting censored by over zealous Mods ...stupid ricer audi owners wit their rediculous blingedy bling people who flamed people just because the were bored.... all I can say is take a brake seperate yourself from that virtual world.
I left audiforums.com for a couple years because when I did big writeups on AutoX and road races with all the links rules classes...ect ect... I couldnt even get it stickied....

who got the sticky? the guy who wrote how to eat 20 twinkies and not ralph!
But seriously sometimes it gets to the point were the people who started the forum and are interested in legit racin and are REAL enthusiests slowly go away and your left with all the Nubs and there Blow off valves and neon lights 20" chome wheels.....
you cant race with 20" spinners and paper thin tires C'mon man!

Like a few others have mentioned, agree with you completely InsaneJughead except for the final paragraph. But that's not the point. I agree with you about other Ranger forum sites. I'm a member on RPS and R-F but haven't logged in more than a few times a month for a while now. Guess it's just how they are lined out. Most members have late model Rangers while a lot of members on here have them from 10 years ago and more. It's just who joins. We're more oriented to suspension lifts and offroading and having a truck that works well as opposed to a truck that simply looks good. The other sites primarily have threads about body work, wheels, sound systems and more pictures about new shiny mods than you could believe. This site is much more technical and fun to read. I'll take a picture of an axle rebuild over some shiny new rims any day.

About half the time I spend on the internet is on TRS. It just never gets old. The political forums got old even for me, I got too distracted by the boob threads:headbang: Anyways to Jim: thanks you so much for the site, you have done a superb job in keeping it together and you and the staff have done an excellent job in keeping the spammers and other junk out of the pages. Would love to submit to the tech library but don't know about anything that isn't already in there. But we'll see what comes in the future.

Long post over.

The first site i found was rps, so until recently it was the only one I liked. Then it crashed a few times and everybody stopped signing on so i found this site. It's very different from rps, which means it's different from what i'm used to, but i'm getting used to it. It's true that rps is mostly about mods that make a truck look "cool". Which fits what I like to do at this moment in time. As some of you know already, I do enjoy the political threads on here. I learn more everyday. The two sites are very different from each other, and for the last few days i've ended up spending more time on here than on rps. One thing i have noticed is how many different active threads there are on this site. on rps, i could click new posts and only get 5 or 6 hits, but on here there are pages of new posts. so currently i open both in seperate tabs, and go back and forth between the two haha.

None of them believed me when I said the bible is the word of God and it specifically states that "Homosexuals shall never enter into the kingdom of heaven", as well as "God does not make men homosexuals, men choose it for themselves".

So, where is it in the bible?

Time to chill out. I'll tell you, I don't have a television feed to my house--no dish, no cable, no antenna--nothing. Nothing. I watch zero TV and never have since watching tha Waltons and Little House on the Prarie as a young lad. It's a waste of time. The commercials during football games (I watch the Colts at my brother's house) enrage me.

The only places I go on the web (besides shopping--Jamestown Distributors etc.) are TRS and Ebay and Wikipedia. I do not give a shit about the other 8 billion things out there. You only live so long--figure out what you want and cut everything else out. The possibilities might be endless, but your time and patience aren't.

And yes, I wish we would disallow the political garbage and even the booby allowance in the garage. I think of it as the garbage. I'm raising 4 kids (10 if you count my influence on nephews and nieces) and I have to keep a positive, open and energetic attitude at all times to be the person I need to be to meet my expectations. I can't afford being in the dumps, and I can't afford to let garbage infest my life. Cut out the mental tumors and do only things that motivate you.

TRS is a good website. Everyone on the staff is a good person--nobody does anything without bumping it off of everyone else. It's a reflection of Jim Oaks really. I've been here for years, met many, many of the people that are key to this place, some gone now, and though I have taken breaks for a month or so here and there, I have no plans to abandon the place. If something here is getting on your nerves you should either take a break and see if it isn't you and not the site, or PM one of us and see if we can't agree with you and fix it.

I am bored and burned out on life in general.

That expresses me exactly right now.

Right now life is A: Drive to whatever location I have to work at and Work. B: Go home and sleep. C: Repeat.

I will agree with this too. I know I am new here and all so I am not thought of as one of the "knowledgeable" people here, but I still have my life away from this site that has been kind of a drag in the last year. I've worked maybe 2 1/2-3 months this year due to the economy. It gets old seeing people on here saying "Well get up and go get a job!" It's not that easy around here. 2/3 of the jobs in my area are factory jobs, and right now if you make 40 hours in this area, or your factory hasn't shut their doors, your lucky. Some people say it doesn't matter what you do as long as you make money. Well, I get $395/wk on unemployment, and I *might* be able to touch that in 2 weeks at McDonalds, but my house payment is $800.month. I might have to take that route though as my unemployment runs out in middle of December if I don't get a job by then, but I wonder how long I will be able to keep my house with electricity, gas and a telephone that way...

*ducks and awaits the bullets fired on this "lazy bum" as some will probably call it"

On an up note, I got my paper from the state today for them paying for my IT A+ certification program so I can go to school to be an IT tech and hopefully not have to ever touch unemployment again.

Wow dude, that really sucks. I hope things get better for you and your wife. Mine's working too, although her job has slowed down since she works in a restaurant. You should check to see if you can get any kind of help for schooling like me. Here, they call it the Dislocated Workers program. I have messed with computers for years, and big businesses will always need computers, so I figured why not go in that direction.
