Throttle Cable Question

Ok, I managed to pull the old cable out this morning. (Essentially, I just yanked on the thing until it came off.) I've got the new cable attached, but now I can't get it to snap into place in the firewall . . . Any ideas?

First off, I checked your website...very nice...but very crowded...wonder what it would be like without power steering, A/C or any other options on a 4 plug head setup...

About your cable attachment...I would imagine that the connection to the firewall is simply a pass-through guide that does not actually anchor the cable other than keeping it stiffly in place...so...you might be able to fab a connector that simply guides it through and bolt it in place on the firewall...

Other than that suggestion...did the new cable not come with a plastic retainer with clips like the original? If so, it should just press into place and the clips would do the grabbing on their own...otherwise...maybe you can make one out of sheet metal that slips around the cable and then screws or bolts onto the firewall...

Well, it started out with a lot of room . . . It's amazing what happens when trying to stuff a big supercharger like the Eaton M 90 under the hood. It's even worse now, because I've gone to the factory blower intake set up, which required me to dump the heater fan and install a (cough) GM version, which didn't stick out as far.

It does have a plastic retainer. I suppose I'm just going to have to grunt the stupid thing into place. We're supposed to have better weather by Friday, my clamps should be in by then, so I'm hoping I can work on the truck in the afternoon and get it running again.

Does the retainer actually do anything other than keep the cable in position? I'm sure you can figure something else out instead of fighting with the wonky one...hopefully!

I drilled out the hole and now it fits, but there's an awful lot of slack in the cable now . . . I think I'm going to install some spacers between the firewall and the plastic holder in order to keep everything tight. Either that, or I need to re-route the cable in order to take up a bit of that slack.
