Hi There:
I was at Lowes today & bought the Danco Faucet Hole Cover(p/n 80246)
1 1/4" O.D.Received my veteran's discount. When I got back home pulled the ranger into the garage & removed the 5 black plastic retainers that hold my hood liner on(one at a time) Now I have 5 chrome plated retainers holding my h/liner. Looks nice & no trimming required, just spread open the little tips & insert the retainer.Use a s/driver to push the retainer down into place.

Hi There:
Sorry I don't have pictures. I'am not photo shop educated.Very easy to do though. Really self explanatory once you buy the faucet hole cover, which is chrome plated with little teeth on the back of it.

But I think those plastic clips you replaced were engineered to melt so that your hood liner will drop and blanket a burning engine...

if i'm thinking right the Danco Faucet Hole Covers would just snap right over the plastic clips that hold the blanket in place and just act as a mini hupcap if you wish to look at it that way? maybe i'm wrong but a picture would be worth a thousand words here..:icon_confused:

It kinda sounds like no, they've just been replaced with the chrome ones.

I should also add I think it's a great idea for a little bling mod, just curious if it's safe...

Are you talking about these, but bigger?

I put them in my license plate holder holes (my prov. don't need no stinking front plates)

Where'd you find them that small? What size did you use?

Hi Crunchy:
Thats the item I bought at Lowes p/n 80246 1 1/4" O.D.Where did you find small ones like that? Good idea on the lisence plate.

I got the 1/4" ones, I think they were. Just measure your plate holes, thats the size I used.

They sell them at all the hardware stores. I got mine at Canadian Tire, but like I said, all hardware stores around me sell them. (think "Home-depot" and the like)

I think on the label for the bin, they call them "pipe finishing end caps" or something like that.

They are in the section where they sell individual (bulk) nuts, bolts, washers, o-rings, and stuff like that. You know, in those little drawer things, where you have to write on a bag what item number and quantity.

Also, I paid $0.11 each, so they are cheap as hell, and mine chrome.
