Enlighten Me

I did that once and it did stop but came back the next day. I don't know is there a float that could be stuck or a bad seal somewhere?

my good ol 2.9 was having a problem with it, at one point causing a crazy idle. after a good cleaning of the internals and the plug it works just fine to this day.

Ok Thanks guys all it is is two bolts and a connector. I will pull is off and give it a cleaning before I go buy a new one.

It's an air bypass valve, and it MIGHT be sticking.

You can unbolt the solenoid from the body and move the plunger with your finger. It should move in and out very easily. If it doesn't, it's sticking. Cleaning might help it; remove it and see if you can make it move smoothly and easily (replace it if you can't). If it does move nicely, go looking for another problem.

Is this the part that whines or whistles? I've been making the noise go away by monkeying around with the air box - but it always comes back?

Any tips on how to clean it?

use carb/throttle body cleaner. just spray it in there, shake it around and use a small brush or something to try and get the carbon deposits off. make sure you don't leave any bristles behind tho!

Also, that black cap thing pulls off the alum. peice and has a small filter in it, i would clean that good too.

Mine gives off sort of a whine and I have tapped it a few times with a wrench and it goes away but comes back too.
