I'm glad to have this little Ranger! I'm getting to know it, and one of the first things I noticed was it's possible to leave the headlights on; there's no warning sound. I got a 12v dc buzzer from the electronics store for four bucks. I just stripped about 1/2" off the leads and folded the red lead over a fuse tab that comes on with the dash lights. Then I found a fuse that's hot with ignition and folded the black wire over that and carefully put it back.
Now I have a headlight warning buzzer. When the ground side fuse gets hot with ignition, there's 12v applied to both buzzer leads and it's quiet. With the ignition off and the lights on, the buzzer comes on.

Next I will find a really small toggle switch and install it on my dome light so I can turn it off when I'm working on the truck and want to leave the door open for a long time.

your truck had a door/headlight chime at some point...personally i hate dingers and buzzers and disabled mine...want it?

if your worried about your 5 watt dome light draining your battery, you need a new battery. i had my hood up (hood light on) while changing my clutch the last time for 3 days straight and the truck still started fine afterwards.

if the average car battery has 70 amp-hours, you could run your dome light for more than 120 hours (a 5-day work week) and still start your truck afterward.

I dont own a rbv of your year but mine was right above the glove box, open up the glove box and reach into the space up there you should find it assuming thats where it is.

Its in the middle up under the dash, more towards the drivers side. its a grey box with one large plug going to it with a handful of wires.

People unplug the module because the same annoying chiming noise is made for The key left in, the head lights on or your seatbelt unfastened.

Me?
I disabled the two trigger switches that annoyed me.

I left the headlight chime.

a seatbelt reminder for me is pointless, because by reflex I fasten
my seatbelt to sit in the truck to listen to the damned radio.
