So this morning I get a call from a teacher at my daughter's high school. It seems my daughter has managed to back the truck up in the school parking lot and drive over a curb so that the rear wheels dropped down and the truck is stuck. After a short discussion with the teacher I asked if anyone has tried 4 wheel drive. The teacher then goes and tries and drives the truck back onto the pavement using 4 low.

I go over at lunch time to check on the truck and see that the rear drive shaft shows significant marks from where it was spinning on the cement curb. The marks are about a foot in front of the differential. I drove the truck around the block (max speed 35mph) and could feel no vibration or other signs of problems. I intend another higher speed check after work.

What other checking do you recommend? I'm pretty impressed with the durability exhibited so far.

Thanks...

I doubt you hurt anything. As long as the driveshaft isn't bent, you should be good to go. I have had my whole truck supported by ONLY the rear shaft on a rock I was trying to crawl over and didn't bend it.

I think you should kick the teachers ass and call it a day. theres no tellin what could have happened drivin it in 4 low on dry pavement

I Have to check with original owner(uncle) but I don't believe a woman has ever driven my truck since it came home from the dealer in 83.Daughter can't drive a stick and wife won't even ride in it.

Yeh But I dont believe using 4low 4 feet in a straight line to get over the curb will hurt it as long as it was put back in 2wd after it got over the curb.

Yeeeahhh!!! Hardcore Mall Crawlin carnage!!!!!!!!!:3gears::headbang:

:drool: mmmm so many thought so lil time.

but any way as long as theres no major marks your good to go. ask how it felt next time she has in on the high way. it might shake a lil but i dont see any red flags .
