Well as the title states I started the wonderful and cheap rustoleum roll on paint job. as I started I noticed alot running paint and bubbling in the paint from the foam roller. I felt that the 50/50 mix of paint/thinner was thin enough. but by my third coat I thought of thinning it even more to about 75/25 with it thinned out even more it seems to "self level" and keep the running and bubbling down. And Again sorry about the pics I keep forgetting my camera so shitty phone camera.

And now for the 3rd coat of paint. at this point I still need to wet sand and roll at least 2 more coats. also remeber that I have only done the hood fender door and just behind the door to kinda do a test area. and I'm only spent about $40. and still have about a quart of mixed paint still.

yes I know I need to lift my box 1 inch I just did the lift on the cab but not the box yet. will do when I paint the rest of the cab.

wow it dont look half bad could be the camra phone tho any way u can get better pics?

I will as soon as I get back from work. and get some time. Will probably thursday or saturday.

i saw a writeup on how to do this a while back. with a little elbow grease, you cant even tell the paint is rolled on...seems to hold out against the weather OK as well.

you can do my red...er...pink escort next if you'd like :icon_thumby:

i have rooled on sprayed on rattel caned maney rigs all in the prep. and coats lots of thin coats

I have rattle canned 2 rigs, so long as you keep the coats thin it looks just fine. Actually, my buddy got a show and shine award at an event, granted it was a bad thing since he was the only rig that had new paint and no rock rash.

Nice, that looks pretty sweet. I can get you a link to a good write up on this if anybody wants it...

SWEET!!! I wonder if I can get rustoleum to match my Lapis blue so I can get a roll on paint job?!?!?!

Hmm...

Oh, that's kickass if you couldn't tell from my reaction above.

Ya if you go down to a place like sherum willaims (sp) that has a electric eye that can match paint. should be able to do it for you.

and here are some more pics of the truck in the process of the painting with a better camera. I have also started painting the rest of the cab. As you can see there are some places that the paint that have run. but it seems to be sanding smooth.

So ya I know this a taking me for ever. but I have been pretty lazy and slow. but now that I have the techniqe down I should be going a little quicker.

Don't Give Up!!!

I am impressed!! For me the paint thing is the best thing in stylin. Whether you knew it or not it's discouraging to many of us "shade trees" to even attempt anything that has to do with dustless,viscosity.adheision.coverage and reflection ect.ect... Just the fact you attempted an improvement and got results like the first pics is enough to inspire me to do the same! THANKS,
Bill

I'll bet it looks pretty good at night. I know somebody that painted his neighbors house then used the left over paint on his car. It looked pretty good at night.
