Good off-road / daily brakes

Good afternoon y’all I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for good brakes I do pre-run/off-road the car so I need something that’s good at stopping however I don’t know if the powerstop towing one is necessarily good for that because I’m not towing (it seems to be the best one they offer). Any other brands or recommendations on which of the powerstop ones I should get would be nice. I’m looking to replace the front and rear, the rear being drum brakes. Thank you for your time.

I hit a point years ago where I started putting the best brakes the local parts store offered on brakes. Since I mostly deal with Autozone anymore, that is their gold series or better (at one time there were “severe duty” pads available that were like race/taxi/police/heavy towing rated but sadly now it’s usually Gold or Gold C-max as the best). Usually try for the Gold rotors/drums but they’re not always available. I’ve been pretty happy with the performance, my Choptop on 35’s is capable of locking up the brakes at 35 mph and about putting you through the windshield (experienced this when some jerk pulled out right in front of me).

I used to buy brakes from a bunch of different sources in various grades and some were good and some not so much. Powerstop is a more reputable brand, supposed to be good. I just hate mail ordering parts and waiting when I don’t have to. Easier for me to pick up the phone and someone brings it to me (commercial account) as soon as they can. Usually by the time I get it torn apart. I like efficiency like that. It’s not for everyone though.

Thank you for the response. I’m kind of the same way. I also like getting stuff in stores because that means I can return them or warranty them way faster, and easier if needed. You do make a good point in the ability to have them more readily available. I think the price is what’s gonna make the decision for me thank you.

I have never bought a drum and currently have nothing with drums in the fleet.

I do like Bendix pads/rotors, I get them from Rockauto. I don't know if they do the kit thing, I have never seen that before.

On rear shoes...

I bought some bendix premium. I always ensure that tha linings are riveted vs. bonded. Riveted shoes are the heavy duty versions.

I last bought a PowerStop kit. Rotors... powder coated calipers and their best dust free pads.
