8hp swap

Has anyone here over thought about doing an 8 hp swap, I been iffy on my 5r55e and I been looking into the 8hp for my prerunner project.

a 8hp is an 8 speed, found in trucks like rams, and car like bmws challangers and chargers, so on

I see adatper plates for mod motor family like coyote and godzilla bolt pattern. expensive adapter, but its pretty expensive.

That is an expensive adapter... I'm gonna be purchasing one soon but mines only gonna run me 1100..

What's even more expensive is the standalone controller you'd need to get the thing to shift.. found one online and the company wants 2500 bucks lol.

I have honestly never heard of anyone doing this in a Ranger.

6R80 Ford is a pretty good trans, you may look into that as an alternative if you strike out with the 8spd. It is only a 6spd if that is one of your criteria though.

I have looked into 6r80e before just use a quick6 controller, and if its like the 6r140 it will mate to the godzilla, might work with the ecu for the older godzillas with the 6r140 but that speculation.

At first I thought for sure this was a single cylinder swap too so I actually have relevant information for that. It's been done. And no, not by me (yet)

I have nothing else to add other than to say that I have one of these transmissions in my Ram work truck and it's been great. The truck will be dead from rust before the transmission fails I am sure. Way more than I would want to swap into anything else but I think it's cool that some people are doing it. I just haven't leveled up past the 80's yet, adapters and controllers & stuff are a world I haven't touched.

thanks man for the input do what works best for you, my dad wants my help for a honda mini swap, and I feel like with a little learning I could tune the maps on it. But canbus for the transmission I will have to fully learn have help from someone.
