RifRafters definitely has a better website. And cabins. I'll be in one if Brittney comes. She doesn't do tent. :annoyed:
I would also be down for a cabin, as my hobbyist photographer friend needs power for his CPAP. 🤔

I like the idea of the tour under the bridge, but $79 per person is expensive IMO. Might still do it. If I fit into the harness... Website says 35" thigh maximum. IDK exactly what that means.

I wonder if they offer discounts for a full group of 13?
We stopped there on the way home the last time I went to a NASCAR race in Charlotte. There is a long staircase we walked down that's under the bridge and looks out over the gorge and it's free. I suppose the $79 tour is up close and on the bridge but there is an alternative.

I didn't know there was a $79 tour, unless that's the speedboat tour.

Nope. That's only $45

So it looks like this will be the 8th trough the 11th. Is that correct? Just need to get it on the calender.

JoshT and Senornoob voted for the second weekend. That is my least favorite due to the amount of vacation I would need. But I can do it.

Don't worry about dates cause of me. I have 3 weeks vacation (only one of which I can rollover till next year), and boss hasn't turned down a request for anyone in 8 years.

I'll second what @SenorNoob said. At current I have three weeks that I have to use this year (actually a LOT more that I can use this year) and can bank comp time if desired to estend it without touching carry over leave. As long as I buckle down between now and then, taking any of those days won't be an issue.

Bigger question is if I'll be able to make it regardless of the weekend. Some big changes happening around me and I might be busy during that time period.

I will say that if I can go, having a cabin or nearby hotel would be beneficial. As long as overnight temps will be at least down in the low 60 I'm good with tent camping, but I don't like the time involved in packing and setting up camp.

Also at this point, the F-150 still looks like most likely transport. I'm not offroading this truck. Well maintained forest service roads is about as rought as it's going to see. Given the area, would there be a valid reason to bring an ATV/UTV, and what safety gear is required by the state/offroading areas?

Nearly a mile long, and 815 feet up! Crazy numbers. 🤪
what's crazy is some of the stunts that have occurred there.
bungee cording a pickup, getting catapulting onto a net being pulled behind an airplane.
when a human bungees off it the rebounding continues for something like hours :fie:
