My credo
Doing things wrong, until I get it right.
Backnin October, 2 weeks after making the final payment, someone rearended our Santa Fe, and insurance totaled the car. We were a little hesitant to jump right back into a car payment, so while the wife was driving the Corolla, I have been driving the D21. After missing out on a Edge ST, just couldn't get the numbers right, we looked at a few Bronco Sports. My wife was torn between a Bronco Sport and Edge titanium. After much deliberating, she picked the 21 Bronco Sport. The jury is still out on the 1.5 ecoboost 3 cylinder, but it seems to do OK when I drove it home last night.

Had to pick my D21 up from the dealership this morning. I snapped this Maverick behind my Hardbody

The rear wheels are almost lined up perfectly. You can kinda see the size difference.

low rider time with that old nissan hard body.

yessir. I got the 18" rims from a Jeep Wagoneer and the 3" lowering blocks will be next. eventually gonna swap the 4 spd trans out for a 5 spd.

Nice, congrats! Looks like a big bend badge on it? That's what I ended up with.. albeit the big boy version.

I know someone who recently purchased an escape that has the 1.5 eco. Id never buy something with a turbo motor that small personally.. but.. got somewhat peace of mind with the brand new warrantee so 🤷🏻‍♀️ and to be fair... It scoots along fairly well. 200hp or something IIRC. Sounds kinda neat too..

I *believe* the 1.5s have that jackass wet-belt timing arrangement... do NOT go the full 10k on your oil changes. Just don't.

Love the hard body too. They've all long since dissolved up here in the salt belt.. I miss seeing them regularly.

Well ...
It was making a noise in reverse that my wife can't/won't describe and I cant replicate, AND the tachometer needle was bouncing ever so slightly, so we took it back to the dealership to see what's what. I'm hoping it's a quick fix because we really NEED a decent, road worthy vehicle for the immediate future.

This is my 1st ever turbo'd vehicle. 1st ever non 2wd vehicle. The small displacement with turbo is a concern for me, also. This Bronco Sport is a Ford Certified pre-owned with factory warranty still attached and I usually always opt for the extended warranties for drivetrain and electronics, since it's basically the "family car". Hopefully I'll get my money's worth. Unfortunately, our Ford dealership is kinda known for having a poor quality service center reputation.

My wife really wants a Bronco sport. Probably be her next one if she ever wears the fusion out...or gets tired of it.

HOpefully that 1.5 treats ya well

i hope its not the transmission. i know on the escapes, there was a lot of transmission issues with stuttering and weird shifts. since the bronco sport seems to just be an escape with a new body, i feel like its the same transmission and possible issues

Turns out, it was the tires. It has almost 40k miles and the front tires were a different brand than the rears. I just picked it up and they put 4 new Tiger paws on it to fix the tachometer issue. They replaced the rear brake pads and rotors per the TSB to fix the reverse braking issue. Time will tell if this is ongoing or a one and done fix.

My wife loves it. She has always had "granny cars" ( Camry, Corolla, Santa Fe ). This is her first time having something "trendy" and cute. She's already wanting a Bronco Badge on the Lift Gate. Turns out, that's an issue between the Bronco and the Bronco Sport crowds. The Bronco sport doesn't have a Bronco Badge on the body. Just the Wheels, ( steering wheel and Center caps ). She's shopping the interwebs for a Bronco Badge she likes to put on hers.

We got more issues with the Jeep people, never hear much out of Sport people. Them Wrangler jockeys... the dark side is strong with them.

Its really kind of funny, I have had my Ranger forever and just kind of flew under the radar I guess and for the most part nobody cared. We get the Bronco and Jeep people will go a comical distance out of their way to trash on it.

My Sister has a Jeep "LJ" or "JL", not sure. BUT her husband is a jeep snob. I cant wait to see his face when he sees we went "Bronco" lol.

Apparently the Bronco owners don't consider the Sport to be a "real Bronco" - unibody frame and all that, so it doesn't deserve a Badge on the Body. It seems to be like a "Mach E ain't a Mustang" type of situation.
The way I see it : If Ford calls it a Mustang or Bronco, then I'm calling it a Mustang or Bronco. I like the idea of Ford having little mini brands inside of a bigger brand.

JL is like 2019-2024ish.

Bronco Sport is more of a Bronco than the Mach E is a Mustang...
