Can anyone tell me where to get an engine overhaul manual on an '85 2.8?

Im not sure they exist.

I know there is a manual out there for building colonges written by a man named pruitt but i havent heard much about that book in years. But it probably contains general rebuild info.

If youre looking for tolerances and things im pretty sure a chilton for your era should have that.
