I would like to email the past owners and know everything about when they use to own my ford ranger.

You should be able to pull a report that lists the previous owners. I used to do on stuff i would get to ask about missing items as sometimes people trade/sell and forget to bring spare keys or other items in with the vehicle

Generally speaking, you don't. For the most part if someone parts with a vehicle, they want it out of their life, they don't want a future owner contacting them about it. There are exceptions, but they are few and far between.

x2.

Plus you would be hard pressed to find a company that would disclose that information to you.

Info about vehicle ownership is closely guarded as non-public information, except in some states where the state gets to sell said information to people who want to fill your mailbox with junk mail. Dealers and repair shops are strictly prohibited from sharing any of that information, so even if you manage to stumble across the shop where the prior owner serviced the vehicle, they will not be able to give you any of that information.

This^. I remember my days at the ford dealer where we would get one of those big shredder trucks in and all the old records that we didnt have to keep anymore everything went in there to make sure it was destroyed

Yup, not quite HIPAA but darn close to it.

Unless you find something of theirs in the vehicle you are out of luck. Same goes for after you sell it, its gone unless you spot it again.

and speaking from a seller standpoint, when i traded my 03 ranger in on my first F150, I was done with it, I never saw it again and that is fine with me

pretty much what everyone has said. a carfax report will tell you how many previous owners, but will not divulge private owner data. it will tell you dealer names if they are part of it.

that being said, many years ago (over 20) i bought a used 1994 Olds Eighty Eight. one owner, less than 60k miles. nice car. looking at the owners manual and paper work, I did find the previous owners name and address in one of the warranty card fill outs.

Now for my current car that I bought in May of last year. 2020 Ford Edge. one owner, carfax told me when it was bought (not the owner tho) it was locally bought and traded, and for the first oil change I just happened to take it to the previous owner's oil change place and they printed the reciept with her name and address... I let them know she was no longer owner of the car.

sometimes that info happens to fall in your lap. Not a good idea to contact the previous owners, they might take offense to that lol

Also keep in mind that us on this forum are the vast minority of ranger owners, the majority of the public who purchased them through the years, just viewed them as a small truck that they occasionally needed to use as a truck for small home projects or hauling. They were nothing special to them, just a truck and when they were done with it or it served its purpose they sold it because they didn't need it or want it anymore

My grandpa bought what is now my 98 ranger back in 1998 just because it was a small truck that he needed for occasional landscaping things he wanted to do around his house and he didn't want an F150. He also looked at S10s and Dakotas but the ranger fit the bill so thats what he bought. And it served him well up until he couldn't drive anymore and he signed it over to me(which was his plan all along, i can remember being 7 years old right after he bought it and him telling me that one day it will be mine)

the sick....ford f#$%^&g ranger !!! people.....

aint no stranger

Dad got my truck for me 26 years ago from a local farmer so we always knew who the previous owner was.

After we had it for awhile it was clear it did not have an easy life.

In a previous life I worked with previous owner's son (I actually borrowed his hay baler once too) and he said that his sister used to drive my Ranger.

My dad had a customer come into his shop and in idle conversation mentioned he married said farmer's daughter.

And imagine my surprise when it turned out she is my son's kindergarten teacher lol.

My son is very enthusiastic about my truck at school I guess and it did come up when my wife was talking to her... and she did say she was not easy on it.

my truck found its way back to the original owner....

my daughter and his grand daughter became best buds in high school and used to flog the holy living hell out of my ranger...partying and doing i am sure horrible things with it.....

my truck isnt exactly stock anymore....

but when Big Jim Garret figured out Madisyn was rooster bobs grand daughter it all fell into place...that it was his old truck.

those girls were able to dominate all of the party scene trails because they could go where all of the guys couldnt....
