As mentioned in the thread below:
I have been looking at the old BW1350/1354 Doubler pages to update them and searching to see if there's anything new, I can add to them.
An issue that people have run into is not having enough room between the transfer case and the fuel tank (gas tank) when you add an additional 6-7 inches with a Doubler in front of the transfer case. I began digging into that to clarify if the tank is always in the way, and if there is more room between the transfer case and fuel tank on a regular cab vs SuperCab Ranger. Does the tank sit farther back on a SuperCab (extended cab) than a regular cab, and are all the tanks the same length?
I had trouble finding any information listing actual dimensions of showing any size comparisons between Ford Ranger fuel tanks.
The owner's manual for 2000 Ford Ranger lists (3) fuel tank capacities:
Regular cab (Short wheelbase) 62.4L (16.5gallons)
Regular cab (Long wheelbase) 75.7L (20.0gallons)
SuperCab 73.8L (19.5gallons)
I found an eBay seller (77radrich_newoldstock4sale) that had a small variety of Ford Ranger fuel tanks listed and actually had the lengths listed for each one.
1999-2000 Ford Ranger Fuel Tank 47-Inches Long
1999-2000 Ford Ranger Fuel Tank 58-Inches Long
1998 Ford Ranger 17-Gallon Fuel Tank 47-Inches Long
2001 Ford Ranger SuperCab Fuel Tank 57-Inches Long
2002-2003 Ford Ranger Fuel Tank 46-Inches Long
2002-2003 Ford Ranger Fuel Tank 58-Inches Long
2004-2011 Ford Ranger 17-Gallon Fuel Tank 47-Inches Long
2004-2011 Ford Ranger 19-Gallon Fuel Tank 59-Inches Long
I'm not going to discuss transfer case clearance here. I just wanted to make this a separate post for anyone that might be searching for information on gas tank (fuel tank) capacity and length.
If you have any information or photos to share, please do so. Especially if you have any photos to show side by side size comparisons.
I will probably move this to the 4WD Suspension Forum.
I'm going through the site updating information and I'm looking at these BW1350/BW1354 doubler builds wondering why nobody builds a BW1354/BW1354 doubler. I did some searching on only found one person online that's built one.
I know Behemoth makes a strongbox that uses the planetary from a BW1354 and attaches to the front of BW1354 replacing the adapter plate essentially putting two 1354's together. But I'm curious why people haven't done their own BW1354/BW1354.
Seems like it's easier to find a manual 1354 than a 1350.
