New to the forum so I'm hoping I'm posting this in the right place! I bought a abandoned project off my brother in law and he absolutely tore apart this engine. I have one plug I can't for the life of me find a connection for. Does anyone know what this is or what it's suppose to go to?? Any help would help! ~1986 Ford Ranger 2WD 2.3 GAS~

I don’t have a clue. But to help those who might have a clue, what are the wire colors and what is it close to in the engine bay?

Egr valve position sensor and throttle position sensor would both have 3 wires.

As dirty as the connectors look... it appears to have been disconnected for awhile.

I've updated my post with a picture of the wire colors. Red, red/black, and teal?/black

I was thinking that it doesn't have a mate but I can't really find anything that says either way. Bothering the hell out of me!

crazy wild assed guess,,,
fuel metering assembly

getting serious, does the red wire have 12v when the key is on?

No idea. Just finished putting the engine back together and dropped it in. I wasn't the one who took it apart, was putting it together and couldn't find where this plug goes! Me and buddy were just gonna wait until we finished and try starting and see what would happen lol

Best guess based on wire colors is part of the lamp out warning system. I don't remember seeing a connector like that on anything before 89.

So are you thinking there isn't going to be a plug for it?

Not unless you have that option.

look up oxygen sensor for it and compare the connector. they look very similar.

After some deep searching, I've figured that it's for some emission or option that is not on the truck. I've looked for some missing connector on the truck and have 0. Every one has a mate so I'm going to just ignore it unless something happens when I get the truck finished. I've already spent too much time on something too small!
