I'm looking for a Dana 30 swap that's been documented

We have a page on the Jeep Dana 30, but we haven't documented an actual Dana 30 swap. They've been discussed here for years, and I know people have done the swap, but I can't find one. Does anyone know of a build thread with a Dana 30 swap, or has anyone done one that they can share so we can document it??

I can only recall one thread on their Ranger being SAS'd but I don't remember who. I'm pretty sure it was in the 4x4 build forums.

EDIT: I was thinking of Mr. Bosley's truck. He didn't document much of anything. Sorry.

Escort_gts also has a fairly well documented swap if I remember right. PlumCrazy just did one with leaf springs on a 4 banger.

I dont know that mine is documented all that well. I talked about it and all of a sudden it was done. You could maybe piece enough pics together from my build and I'd be more than happy to get part numbers, measurments and share what I learned while doing mine. It is incredibly straight forward with minimal fab skills for an XJ/ZJ D30.

Whatever pictures and information you can provide to Jim Oaks would be great. He wants to update the information on the website for future users. Keep in mind that not all are used to doing this kind of thing. So, the more detailed the information, what was done, and how it was done, with pictures would help a lot. I think the secondary reason for the request is Jim was expressing an interest in doing an SAS on a torsion bar equipped Ranger, thus why he is asking for the information on top of finding out the website has a hole in the tech articles for doing such a thing.

The 98+ trucks are a different animal for the D30 swap. The frame is too wide for coils and the lack of a steering box changes the setup quite a bit. I think most tend to notch the frame rails or go leafs and the majority run a Toyota IFS box.

I’ll dig through my build thread as I have time and see if I can piece something together. I have more pics on my phone that what’s in my thread. I suck at telling stories.

yeah....sla chassis needs big axles.

the d30 is perfect for tib ranger conversions.

D30 fit better under 2wd coil sprung 98-11 trucks?

I thought a couple of those have been swapped on here.
