AX15 into a '99 Ranger

you used an ax15 in your bronco? wow. i had never heard of people using jeep trans in other vehicles. thats pretty cool.

maybe you guys could bo that 6 speed that came in the later tjs instead of the 5 speed ax15?

if the ax15 and ax5 are the same length, i can have my son measure the ax5 in his 97 wranger.

or i guess i could just measure from the split line of the bell housing/engine to the middle of hte opening in the trans tunnel too. i have the 03 wrangler at the house waiting its trans swap.

It's a pretty common swap in the early bronco world.

If memory serves me correct, Toms bronco parts sell's a bunch of stuff to do the swap. They would be my first call.

its a gain loss thing. if your swapping a 302 and want a manual in a ranger and front dig....unless you have a giant ass rig like mine with huge wheel base the np205 is not as sensible as a dana 300.

the 300 is lighter and smaller and it can actually be cheaper to swap it depending on where you are at and what is readily available, these days the 300 and 205 are getting rarer and can exceed 1000 dollars.

the 300 used to have a nice low range set that was not overly expensive to swap in and still be flippable...so it was money for guys doing cherocars or wranglers especially with 302 or 351 swaps.....


from a space, weight and handling perspective it could be the better setup for a ranger too if you had it already or cheap.

there is a way to do the toyota trans but i cant remember what that was.
