1992 Ranger Frame Picture request!

I don't necessarily need a picture but I need someone to confirm how the front fuel tank strap on a regular cab second gen Ranger is attached on the outboard driver frame side.

My 97 is shot and I found a rolling 1992 chassis semi local but can't get him to take pictures of the area I care about before I waste time driving over an hour to get it.

So, it’s not exactly what you’re asking, but if I remember correctly, the 93+ regular cabs were slightly longer than the 83-92 regular cabs so there may be some frame differences

83-97 share spring hangers, coils buckets and wheelbase, but I know my 85 (gen 1) uses different tanks straps and doesn't have a gusset on the passenger side of the crossmember at all.

I knew there was a change, I just thought it was when the bodylines changed in 93, so I stand corrected

should be triangle slot but they change frame stuff 3 or 4 times between 88 and 2002 or so...obd2 chassis started modularizing tank and evaporative emissions crap. 92 strap is different depending on wheel base. i would make one. screw the rotten shit

Well...I brought the trailer to work, so I'm grabbing the chassis regardless now. It comes with a rear axle, gutted cab, and wheels, so its worth snagging regardless.

Looks like the front tank crossmember is the same, but the rear tank crossmember is different where the rollover vent is located. Potentially still interchangeable (will update later this week hopefully)

Was also surprised to see beams with ball joints oriented the same as 93-97 trucks.

This is the first 89-92 Ranger (or part of one anyway) I have ever had (mostly because I just don't like the look lol)

You aren't wrong, but this truck has some sentimental value and I already welded up all the SAS brackets to this frame

It's a balancing act of time, money, and availability. Sometimes, the thing that makes the most sense is to work harder to salvage the junk you got rather than get better junk.
