What did YOU do today?

Busy day, got home from the airport at about 2:15 AM, slept for a while, went to garage sales with the wife for a bit then HFT for some sidewalk sale action (picked up a Titanium 125 for a buddy for $72, battery charger for like $23, long barrel air hammer for same and some cutoff wheels for $0.50/ea), it's what she wanted to do for our anniversary so hey I think I'm lucky there :). Then I went to my moms to help her order a refrigerator (hard to find one to fit in the hole her house has... everything was 3/8" too wide and 1" too tall...) then got some baling twine out of her mower spindles since she ran over a big wad of that... Then I got home and unloaded the slew of stuff I got then started ripping the front differential out of the Mountaineer, so far the front driveline is unbolted, upper balljoint pinch bolt on the passenger side is loose and it's on jack stands with the passenger tire off...

After dinner I did finish pulling the front diff out of the Mountaineer, more difficult than I figured but you'll get that... ended up having to pull both tires, both upper tie rod ends, taking out the bolt holding the brake hard line to the frame on both sides to get things apart, turns out the passenger side middle shaft was staying with the CV shaft... figured it would be C clip...

Putting that diff in the '00 Explorer will obviously be faster now that I know things and have all the tools out... not to mention I get to skip trying to take out the one bolt that wasn't the right bolt to take out :)

Conveniently it looks like the CV shafts and the front driveline can just hang where they are for rolling the thing around until I fully strip it...

Taking a day off from the engine swap project. Concrete floor in the garage is hard on 75 year old legs LOL. Chilling in the office with coffee and watching a big $$ bracket race from the former National Trails Raceway in Ohio that IHRA has renamed Darana Raceway since it switched from NHRA.

Finnaly started working on my 8N tractor hydraulic system. Got the top plate about ready, replaced a worn cam follower pin & straightened the linkage rod to the pump with my press. Now to rebuild the pump. Kit was expensive but cheaper than a remanufactured pump. Ive thought about a used one but it might be about spent also.

took my 2 boys for their daily hike 1st thing this morning.
then I went shooting sporting clays with the usual crew, I must have stepped in something as I did really well. (y)

Road out to the hunting club friday after work to check on what dad had left out there, get an idea of what needed to be done fore the season, and see if I could locate his stands. The results... not much, general cleaning, and nope. Got our ATVs still out there, need to get his home so that the family can use it. He's got some cold weather gear, ammo, and other odds and ends that need to be gone through. Need to do the usual clean up from a house a house/camper being closed up for 6-8 months. I know the general location of his stands, but don't recall ever going into them. Found the entry to one trail but couldn't follow it far and don't know the stand location. I know that the other stand isn't far from one of mine, further down the same bottom, but couldn;t find the trail entrance off the road. For the first I think I can find the trail fairly easily given more time and light (late evening in the woods and sun going down). The other I think I can go from my stand to locate his then follow the trail back out to the road. Unfortunately the weather is currently too warm to be walking around in the woods alone, unarmed, and no snake boots.

Grandmother's 90th birthday was yesterday. Big party for her.

Today was just relaxing. Should have fired up the mower and cut some grass, but just sat on my backside all day. Need to do that sometime this week and then clean out the F-250 so I can pass it off to my sister and BIL.

Late start but loaded up one of my quads so my buddy could barrow it for this weekend, went over and dropped it off and tested out the little welder I got him, worked fine, and BS'd for a bit then headed down to help out Maui Sprint for a bit and give him the spindles I picked up a few months ago (time flies), needed a hand working on his Mustang before it ships over to his place... made good progress!

took my son and his girlfriend to the shooting range. they shot the sar b6p and the springfield armory 1911.

next week we will take the sig 238 and the keltec so she can try the 380 rounds to see if she can shoot that better then the 9mm in the sar. and then just for fun, the 22mag in the keltec pmr30.

jarrod and my older son, jason, like shooting the keltec but the grip is an odd shape so it feels weird to hold. but they like that it holds 30 rounds in a pistol mag and shoots flames and sounds like a cannon yet has no recoil

Thanks! I'm happy enough with how it's turning out. There ain't much a whole lotta wire and some determination can't fix lol.

Btw the pmr30 sounds fun.. it's like a baby fiveseven.

Spent an hour and a half cleaning, prepping, masking and painting the new race engine then another almost 2 hours converting the engine mounts on the frame from 7/16 to 1/2" thread. Did you ever try to drill and tap a 7/16 grade 8 nut? NOT FUN.....

well, today is going to be a whole lotta possibly not fun. a buddy from work is selling us his 2000 wrangler for 3k. its very nice looking and has nice tires and is a stick, so thats great but he hasn't started it since his wife got sick last year so the battery is dead dead. hopefully we can drop the battery from our 03 wrangler in and it starts right up, or that is where the fun will end since we will have to tow it across town in rush 15 minute traffic. (we only get 15 minutes of traffic at 5pm)

the pmr is a blast to shoot. every time i take it to the range, everyone stops shooting and watches and once the mag is empty, i get tons of questions on what the heck is that. no one believes its a 22mag pistol because of the noise and flames, ha ha ha. its ugly as heck though and the grip feels terrible because its such an odd shape to fit a 30 round mag in a pistol

The grip definitely has some depth to it, the 22mag rounds are as you know are a good bit longer than lr rounds. It's the same deal with the fivesevens.. those rounds are just about the same length longer than 22 mag as 22 mag is over 22lr.

I have decently big hands.. so I really appreciate the extra depth. Feels a lot better personally than any plastic .45 I've shot.
