When i purchased the truck i saw the rust but i wasn't worried cause the firewall and trans tunnel were going to be cut out, but this is alot more than i thought.
if this wasn't a drift specific build i would trash this cab and buy a different one
In the future i will be adding a small cheap ebay turbo to see if it makes a big enough difference to justify buying a higher quality turbo. the current compression ration is 8:1 so i shouldn't have to do any expensive modifications to the engine
Made a plastic "street sweeper" bumper. was a lot easier than i thought and the best part is that it was free! had some old 4 inch garden border trim that i couldn't throw away. the only thing left is to add an aluminum bar at the bottom to keep the shape right. plus it doesn't interfere with the tilt front end.
Small update. finished up the bumper/ street sweeper.
i cut the top section of the original bumper off, flipped it, then used it to make the bottom look more complete. the radiator will be in the bed so i dont plan on cutting any opening for airflow, just have to trim up 2 spot that touch the frame when fully opened
Got tired of getting rained out and moved the truck in the garage. its tight but better then workin in the rain. also started working on the firewall and decided to just cover the rust holes with patches of scrap sheet metal. its not perfect but looking good is not a major priority of this project.
