What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Today's mission, whether or not I choose to accept it;

Home in the yard, transmission dipstick leak solved and all ready for tomorrow evening's Test and Tune session.

the 2000 has been draining the battery for a while.
fuse 26 had about 260 ma going thru it.
I pulled it out, will see what happens overnight.
I do have a factory wiring book, it's the 25 year old wires that I'm worried about. :icon_confused:

If you figure it out let us know, my V8 Explorers drain batteries like mad, pretty sure they'll kill one in a month or less, it's super annoying now that neither is a daily driver...

Old wires scare the hell out of me. How do you rewire and entire Ranger?

Demounted the last tire to vacuum out the ineffective balancing beads in preparation for road force balancing next week.

Started to flush the brake fluid but the fluid in the reservoir looked new. Cracked a bleeder and it looked new, too, so I gave up on that.

Tweaked the toe in on the DS to fix a minor pull.

Ran a load to Habitat Restore, toe in dead nuts on. :)

Pulled a new steering box off at the junkard to fix my mistake.... This one looks like it had an easy life so I may end up rebuilding it instead. Lugging this and all the power tools I brought back to the office in full sun and low 90s was a struggle.

Also my TRS bottle opener finally came in. Thanks Jim.

Filled up the 24 and my son took the 04 out cruising

Spent most of the day trying to figure out why my uncle's plow truck won't start, but had enough time left over afterwards to push the ranger back in his garage and finally start the process of making new crossmembers.

4x4 pieces of 8th inch welded to the frame, will be finished with a piece of 2.5" round tube strung between them. Bought the tube after work on Friday.. it's somewhere between 1/8 and 1/16" thick.. I forget..

Either way.. frames gonna be much stiffer now AND losing some weight to boot.. not much weight.. but losing any at all is a performance boost so I'll take it 👍🏻

Got the new tie-down anchors in the mail and installed them. The rubber blocks were disintegrated in the set that came with the truck when I got it.

View attachment 129932That's funny. I call my truck the Green Bastard (it's green) and just put this sticker on the dash.

My friend group in college did the TPB cast for a couple Halloweens. I shaved down to lambchops and did Sam the Caveman Losco

If you haven't already seen it.. check out the movie hobo with a shotgun.

Rutger hauer plays as the titular hobo trying to make a better life in a new town... But it unfortunately happens to be overrun with crime and corruption.. and he really doesn't appreciate it.

It's a Canadian film.. Rickys in it, sam losco is in it, Sarah's (rather good looking) little sister is the hobos sidekick.. and Sarah did all the costuming for it..

It's super fun. Definitely right up there with Tarantino/Rodriguez films.. if not even more over the top..
