I've long wanted a Thompson Contender. Figured i would get a couple different barrels for it... one barrel to hunt deer... 410 barrel for rabbit hunting... and a 22lr barrel for plinking and just practice shooting because the ammo is the cheapest.

Well that has never panned out due to price of things. Got an email for current gun sales from RKGuns... and there it was... Rossi Brawler. Shoots 45 long colt and 410 shot shells. Sale price...$179. Asked the wife what she was getting me for father's day... she had no clue... so it was ordered.

It came in Friday... went and did the paperwork yesterday... can pick it up Tuesday after 11:50am.

Searching the net... I found caliber adapters that let you shoot 22lr ammo through a 45 long colt revolver. Several people are using them in the Brawler... so I ordered two.

The reviews are pretty good and I'm a excited to run some rounds through it. The guy at the gun counter has one and said he can shoot three inch groups at 50 yards.

So i got a knock off of something I've wanted for a long time. Hopefully it holds up to the hype.

Congrats! That looks like a fun toy.

I just scratched a long-time itch, too, and got me a Walther PPK/S in .22, to replace my ancient, but beloved, Llama XV as a yard plinker.

Although I'm fighting the urge, I bet that it ends up with wood grips.

I've been on the hunt for a chrome plated PPK (centerfire)...

Most recently I picked up a Mosin. Oddly enough its my first bolt gun. Now that's two Allied guns in the collection.

Rossi has a pretty decent reputation.

As for me, I haven't seen anything I really wanted badly enough to buy is quite some time, though I do have several firearms.

i keep looking but haven't bought anything, either. i need some type of rifle that is higher caliber than 22lr. i want to get something in the ar lineup that does 5.56/223 but just haven't done it. i have seen lots of things for sale super cheap on grab-a-gun but just haven't gotten anything.

i really need a truck holster or mount for my sar b6p pistol since its my truck gun. i did the springs and some other things to it and now its even smoother than it was stock with half the pull weight. sar makes some really decent pistols that used to be very inexpensive. i don't know their prices now so maybe they still are?

Hoping for some decent freedom day sales to buy an upper to finish up my ar10.

Scored a complete lower on Black Friday for 180$ shipped.. regular price was 450$.

It kills me how much more expensive 10s are over their little brothers. Pretty much the same amount of material... Same amount of machining... But somehow cost 3x as much 🙄

Would be cool if suppressors get removed from nfa status..

Not much lately but I did buy a Remington Automaster 878 shotgun a couple months ago. I got a really good deal on it because the stock was pretty rough and it has an ugly Poly-choke installed on it. Stock was an easy fix, stripped the old polyurethane off and did a few coats of Tru-oil. The Poly-choke doesn't bother me one bit - I think I am going to shoot some skeet with it this summer and maybe take it out bird hunting this fall so being able to switch chokes on the fly will be cool. It only holds 3 shells so that'll be an adjustment on my end.

I've been in a shotgun mood lately. I'd like to find a nice over/under in 28ga.

Shopping for:
• 22WMR revolver
• Ruger 10/22
• Mossberg Maverick 99

• Mossberg Maverick 99

Maverick 88, I assume you meant? I bought one of those in 12 gauge in 2006. First gun I ever bought. I still have it and have put thousands of rounds through it. I bought another one in 20ga a couple years ago.

Some guys will poo poo those compared to a Mossberg 500. I'm here to tell you that they are an awesome gun. As durable as a hammer and routine oil & maintenance is all they've ever needed. Many pheasants, grouse, and other small game have been taken with mine and if they get dropped or scratched, I just say "oops" and move on with the day.

Wife & I have 10/22's as well, cool little rifles, I'm a Marlin guy myself but the 10/22 has a crazy amount of aftermarket stuff available.

@Shran
Ah yes, great catch...dog-gone fat fingers 🙄

I've got both, as well as an 835. Might as well be the same. The 88 has a few cost cutting points, but nothing that affects the function. Mostly a slightly cheaper looking finish, cheaper furniture (allegedly), and the safety int he trigger guard instead of the tang.

The 835 was actually my first shotgun. Dad bought it for turkey hunting, shot 3.5" magnum shell out of it one time, then swore he'd never shoot a magnum shell again. Don;t recally if he already had the 500 or if he bought it then, but he went back to using it for hunting because it was lighter and didn;t need the shell capacity. After I moved out he gave it to me, I popped a 500 18.5" security barrel on it and kept it in the corner for years.

Eventually with my fiddling around with gun stuff I decided to pick up a 88 and changed out the stocks and put the 18.5" barrel on it. Returned the 835 to stock, it's been a safe queen since since I don't bird hunt. At that point I had the original stocks and barrel lying around for the 88, so I bought a bare 500 reciever off gunbroker, scrounged up a trigger, and bolt, and assembled a complete 500 from the parts. Still want to do some more modifications on those two, but they mostly stay tucked away at each end of the house just in case.

Now I'm going to leave this thread before y'all encourage me to buy something else. I've already got several with less than 100 rounds and have only fired two shots in the last two years. Both times during hunting season at deer (and both were kills). A few things I want to buy or build, but not going to do it until I get some other projects done and time spent at the range.

The 10s are more expensive, but I'd recommend spending the money on a big name brand.

Buying lower end 15s like PSA, Andersen, etc isn't a problem because parts are pretty well standardized unless you pay more for something special. I call them lower end, but IMO there is nothing low end about them. Out of 8 (?) 15s I own I have a mix of PSA, Andersen, one Aero, one TN Arms polymer lower, and one ATI Omega polymer set. The two polymers are for dedicated 22lr builds, but I wouldn't have much issue using them for a 223 build. The Areo is a little nicer finish than the others, but they ain't bad and functionally the same.

AR-10 on the other hand are not standardized. You've got two main patterns, DPMS and Armalite IIRC. Most manufacturers claim to be one of those two, but are usually a variation of them and as such the parts aren't quite interchangable. Seems that DPMS is the more popular pattern and even among that there is a high and low version, referring to the rail height, but I can't recall which is curent production style. There is no standard, so manufacturers make the tweaks that they want and don't care if it doesn't fit most/all ar-10s out there.

Personally I bought a PSA AR-10 because the price was right and it's mostly a toy, but PSA recievers are somewhat proprietary due to changes that they made in the reciever cuts. Most of the standard AR-10 small parts (lower kit, barrel, trigger, etc) still fit and are interchangable, but if I want to build a second upper to swap out, PSA is the only choice for the reciever. DPMS style handguards are close, but not quite the right height. Not really an issue for me because I'll be using a scope and no sights on the handguard rails, if have rails on them at all (it's still using mil style guard right now).

I went with PSA for my 10.. they make good stuff at a great price. Love the hell out of my rock pistol.

Agreed, just wanted to put the warning out there about the non-standard nature of the AR-10 and the PSA is my personal experience with them. I knew the short comings of the PSA 10 (mainly handguard and reciever compatability) before buying, but many aren't and is is something to consider when buying. I would like to build another upper for mine, probably a 243, but almost never see them list stripped uupers for them. To build it, I'll probably have to get another complete 308 reciever and strip it for parts.

Not too interested in the Rock. The 5.7 caliber isn't high on my want list. If I do get into it, it'll be in a SBR platform.

I have considered building one of their Daggers a few times, especially when they have big sales on the parts. I've already got a few 9mms that I need to start shooting before I get another, and I don;t have a role for it to fill. I don't think I could build a dagger that would compete with my Canik TP9 SFx, and I've already got a couple of carry sized 9s.

I'm not sure if they will ever sell them again, but if they bring back the bare 1911 frames I might buy one or two. I'd like to build one at some point, and their prices were good for a starter build when they had them. One would be dedicated to a MechTech CCU in 460 Rowland. The other would be an attempte to build a reverse CCO. an officer slide with a dovetailed commander or government frame. Built for concealed when sitting with the short slide, but with enough grip length to be comfortable in my hands and carry a standard 1911 magazine. My only issue with concealing a government or commander is the barrel length hitting the seat when I'm sitting down, I'm big enough or dressed such that the grip size isn't a problem.

I'm at the point in life, it's either get what I've dreamed about all my life, or stop dreaming about these toys that I've always wanted that go bang.

I have 20GA riot/trench style pump gun due this week, and then I'll be pretty well caught up on my life-long wish list (short of the exotic, the stupid expensive, and the unobtanium).

Can't rule out any wild cards, though. I'm kinda thinking about a .22LR / .22WMR convertible revolver, either a Heritage western style six-shooter or a North American Arms mini. And maybe a Ruger Charger . . . And maybe a snake-charmer .410 . . .

Dammit! Decisions . . . decisions . . .
