I’m trying to decide which one to go to. Sturgis seems a lot more bronco II friendly. Since they have a first gen and second gen class. Lots of wheeling around there also, Florence would be cool to go to also. Still thinking about it, Florence I should book now I guess is from what I’m told. Things book up pretty fast. The bronco club I belong to has a good size group going to both. Sturgis is a little farther. Not a lot though. Anyone else going from our RBV world?

Florence like Oregon? I know there's a Bronco thing on the coast but I don't have one so I don't pay much attention... I might have to look into it, my Ranger's been all around Florence, good times... if you end up going that way I might be up for a day trip at worst, I know I can talk the wife into a trip to the beach on the days before our anniversary :)

That's the only dog I have in the fight... everything event wise is far for me that has much to do with Rangers...

When is the Sturgis rally? I might would be up to it. Oregon is too far away for me at this time.

Yeah Oregon, haha I haven’t brought it up to the wife, because she will want to go to Florence over Sturgis. Sturgis on paper looks more b2 friendly. But it would be nice to be on the coast. Idk still thinking about it. I think Sturgis is cheaper, Florence is a real high class event.

Sturgis Bronco Rally - Largest Midwest Bronco Rally

We wanted to do the Bronco Rally last year but it just didn't work out.

We did the Mustang Rally for years, they know how to put on a event. The Dan Jacobs contact on their page used to run the Ford Dealer in town that started the Mustang Rally. And a lot of the same people are involved in the motorcycle rally. HOWEVER... if it is like the Mustang Rally it is a much more laid back/family friendly event (I would have absolutely no qualms taking my small kids to the Mustang rally, Bronco should be similar)

Lots of historical stuff around there, Black Hills are awesome with gorgeous scenery, you can easily swipe down into Custer State Park for looking at critters. The rally is the same weekend as the bison roundup.

Buffalo Roundup and Arts Festival | South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks

Hill City and Keystone are neat nearby towns that are neat to explore.

The steak tips (the Knuckle Saloon and the Loud American especially) are worth the trip!

I have been told they put on a heck of an event. Probably will be easier to find camping there at Sturgis. I’m leaning more towards Sturgis.

Shameless plug for my club's event. Camping included, and a lot of great wheeling.

I'm in Rapid City (25 miles from Sturgis) so hit me up if you're in the area and want to wheel another weekend. I had some friends attend the Bronco rally last year. They said it was fun. The "offroad" part may be disappointing if you are mainly looking to wheel, and the wheeling part last year was very disorganized. However if you are more into hanging out at the campground and/or car show type stuff, it may be more of that type of thing.

I believe that camping is at the Buffalo Chip. That is a big biker campground that's right on the edge of the hills... not in the hills... and their main crowd is bikers. Nothing against that campground but it's the last place I would camp at unless I was going to the Sturgis motorcycle rally. It's not real scenic, no campfires, etc...

I was kind of cautious about camping in general... late September you guys can get rather Christmaslike weather. I remember one year a month after the Mustang Rally (labor day weekend) you guys had a big blizzard.

Our thing was to mainly maybe do the show and sightsee and try to get a feel for the actual event before committing too hard.

Oh yes, Oct. 4, 2013, that was a really good time for me in town to do some snow wheeling but really bad for a lot of others.

That was a very unusual year though. I am usually good to tent camp through most of October and the last few years have been very mild up to mid December. After labor day it does indeed become kind of a crap shoot for consistent good weather though.

Thanks guys, I have it on my schedule to go to it. I dont think I will have my Bronco ready for it by then so would bring the Ranger. I have been wanting to go to Sturgis for sometime.

Thanks for the tips! I’ll definitely hit you up! I’m not sure what our group has planned. I’ve been told there’s lots of wheeling around there. I’m pretty excited. I’m hoping it works out!

There is a lot of really good wheeling out here. Rock crawling for the most part, it can be as mild or as hard as you want it to be. No mud, no sand, very little water, lots of awesome scenery and hidden stuff if you know where to look!

I can deal with mild, I’m still learning my b2 after the Early bronco coils. It’s a lot different now with how the TTB works. I’m up for some challenge but I really don’t want to roll my shit if I can help it lol

Just throwing it out there (don't blame you for your decision, I probably would do the same...) but the Florence dunes are pretty nice, probably a mess on a busy weekend though... a couple hours north just inland of Tillamook (yes, where the Tillamook cheese comes from, there's factory tours) is some mountain trails, in Tillamook State Forrest or TSF, it's a pretty established trail system based on logging roads so almost everything has a bypass... I haven't been for years but is usually a good time. Depending on the route you'd take there's also Cline Butte near Bend/Redmond with some rock stuff, never been there myself. Then there's Christmas Valley if you like sand dunes, there's some natural sight seeing stuff around town too like Crack in the Ground and a couple others... that time of the year CV is pretty dusty though...
