I had to buy a clip on magnifier - was drilling on a stuck manifold bolt in the new engine and I realized I can't see up close worth a damn now. Getting old sucks

I put a magnified lense in my welding helmet... had single vision glasses made for up close work... have magnifying glasses stashed everywhere. Still have trouble seeing...

My glasses prescription hasn't changed in about 10 years but I had to start looking over the top of my glasses all the time for small stuff. It is mildly annoying. That started in my mid 20's. Eye doc says it's normal, it's like it takes forever for my eyes to refocus on close up if I've been looking at something in the distance and vise versa.

if I use the regular tri focals for up close work or reading the 'ol eyeballs take a set and I can't focus for about 1/2 hour.
night time lights look like giant stars, driving is a bit sketchy.
had a separate pair of glasses made with about an 18" focal length to use for close up. that prevents the half hour adjustment, night lights are ok.

'tis tough to get old.



public service announcement:
during an eye exam dont' time it to where your eyes will still be dilated and you have to drive under low light. lights will appear huge and fuzzy.

Just bought this:

Klein Tools 11061 Self-Adjusting Wire Stripper / Wire Cutter

Works great. My simple clip and pull pliers style stripper is getting worn out.

Big mistake. Just now using the stripper with 12 AWG wire. I needed to open up the wire length stopper but the locking knob was jammed. When attempting to remove it, the knob twisted off.
Of course now it is too late to return to Amazon.
I notified Klein Tools but there is no warranty on hand tools.

All I could do was remove the wire stopper which I probably do not need anyway. I usually like the quality of Klein Tools but this is poor.

Really? I thought Klein hand tools had a lifetime warranty. I know they were kinda weird about it, like it's at their discretion or something, but usually honored.

I have a bunch of their pliers, screwdrivers, etc. Other than one really old needle nose pliers, I have not really been super impressed with their tools to begin with. They are kind of just on par with everything else but not outstanding. Their price doesn't reflect their quality.

I always liked Klein stuff. I think thr quality is on par with Channel Lock and other USA made hand tools. They’re not a super premium brand, but they generally hold up better then your run of the mill Made In PRC stuff when used every day.

No. I expect that screwdriver to pry a lot more stuff.

Really,I consider Klien to be a premium brand. I have used their tools for many years as a contractor and industrial maintenance tech, as well as at home. Their stuff generally holds up a lot better than almost any other brand I've used. If you use them heavily on a daily basis, you find out how good they are.

Same here.

Klien was the preferred brand for electrical work on the plant floor.

Retired now, any time I need a screwdriver in general, a Klien "10-in-1" is usually what I reach for first.

I have one of those... I rarely use it. I leave it in my tool belt pouch. I don't use the tool belt much. Last time I used it was when I built the carport. I'll have it on again soon for some fence repairs.

My go to screw drivers are the pair of Milwaukee demo screwdrivers.

Dint we get going on Klein wire strippers and the stop nut breaking?

My new Klein strippers have the same issue is believe. I messed with it the other day and the stop was non functional.
