What did YOU do today?

Wha? How do you get compressed air out of firewood?
magic and fairy dust... I rearranged since there was no firewood in that shed at the moment... of course there's almost 20 pieces of plywood in the new firewood lean-to so I need to figure that out this spring...

I moved some firewood from the back shed to the porch with the '97 Ranger today, also took care of a shop roof leak I found yesterday before the rain started today, was a missed screw hole about 6' from the gutter that I'd missed when plugging all the other missed screw holes years ago... didn't do much when it was just rain but when there was melting snow it got bad... Then went to Lowes to get more wiring parts to finish things up, I'm about an hour from turning the breakers on and moving stuff around... stopped for dinner...

I took a break from the desk and walked Lincoln, and then gave him his kibbles after giving him a few nibbles of my lunch. Then we went upstairs, he laid down in the sunlight, and I rubbed his tummy with my foot.

I want to be Lincoln.

BTW, just for color, the cat in the hat is his love interest. It’s due for the washing machine right now.

I spotted some 3 in.² aluminum tubing, 1/16” wall thickness, 7 foot long, white Powder coated. They wanted $16 each, and I got eight sticks for $100, and it was just around the corner. And the guy has dozens and dozens more.

I’m going to cut them the right width to fit between the rails on the Road Ranger step trailer. If anyone recalls, I just threw the diamond plate down on what was there the night before I took it to the Carlisle Truck National’s two years ago, and held it in with a dozen self threading, self tapping screws. I cleaned up a lot of other things since, but it still does not have enough cross bracing to put something pretty heavy down without plywood or without warping the diamond plate.

I think I can slot these down the corners, and then fold out opposite 3 sides like a flange. The unfolded top would rest on top of the frame, and the three folded sides would be up against the face of it. Then I can hold it in place with some of the remaining 2500 1/4-20 self tapping bolts I have left from that score (about 2450).

These things were used as part of the fencing and the portable kiosks for the 1996 Atlanta Olympic games which I attended. I always love it when I can cobble something together on my projects from something cool like that. It all adds to the story

Found this "Edge detection" feature in my photo editor. Different effect for sure...

The roof top tent is here. I'm just waiting for the kerosene heaters to warm up garage since it's only 18 degrees. I got the thing positioned and laid flat for uncrating, oriented in what I think would be the top of the tent. There is only markings on one side. So, it's just a guess as to that being the top. Once it's opened up and I can get the included rack installed, I can use the chain hoist to lift it up and get the trailer back in the garage under it. I would prefer to run straps underneath for a more secure lift but we'll see how that all works out.

So far the plan is working as I had hoped. All of the the materials are of better quality than my camping tents. I was just barely able to fully open up the roof top tent in the garage to give everything a good look over and make sure everything works as it should. As a bonus, they added an Anderson plug and a power block to the tent that was not listed as a feature on their web site and there is a port on the right side of the tent to run a duct from a diesel heater that wasn't mentioned either. Topoak has certainly been paying attention to people's reviews on their product.

The next hurdle is to see if I can use the chain hoist to place the tent on the top of the truck. I still need the bed rack to be delivered and assembled before I can try that out.

If you need help, just let me know

So far today I got my burn pile burned down some (today I identify as agricultural... back yard season doesn't open until March) then I loaded 6 sheets of plywood from the shed into the back of the '97 Ranger to move it over 30' since it's easier with the "atmospheric river" that's supposed to happen about now so it's backed into the shop. After that I continued work on the loft ladder for the shop since Amazon showed up about then with the router bits so I could recess the rungs into the side boards... Got the ladder installed a few minutes ago, it's much nicer than an extension ladder being 30" wide and attached to the wall...

After I get the plywood out of the Ranger I'll flip it around and do an oil change

Something arrived for the green Ranger… we shall see how soon it gets installed since it is still winter type weather around here…

gross rainy day to start off and in the worst of it the neighbor came over wanting help spreading gravel, I waited a little bit and it cleared up some and took the tractor over and helped move the last yard or so (they did the rest of the dump truck worth by hand, oof, wished they'd asked for help yesterday though...). Other than that I didn't get a whole lot done, just more cleanup in the shop, put up some blocking so I can put ceiling boards up, got some scraps of OSB at the seam to keep dust and junk from getting in the ceiling... Also got the wife's car in the shop to look at a rodent issue that wasn't a huge thing but did get some hardware cloth over the fresh air inlet... now to get a new cabin filter...

I inspected and mostly assembled the Softopper that came in today. The rest of the fitting and adjustment will have to wait until I have access to the 2019 so I can pull the fiberglass cap and do the final setup.

I noticed a noise on thr Superduty. A medium or low pitched groan intermittently when using the brakes. The kind of noise that says " Give me some attention. Spend money on me."

Yuck.

When you own a yacht, you better be able to afford a yacht.

This includes land yachts.

I delivered the deck chairs to sweet pea with the Missing Linc. She had her knee replaced 10 days ago and she gets around better than I do!
