Project: Moose-Knuckle

Me too! But I have improved my wheeling skills wheeling in 2wd.

Tomorrow I'm draining the rear diff and going over the axles and figuring out just what gear ratio I have. I'll be doing just a good inspection on the diff. The PO of the Bronco I got the axles from said they were after market, so I'm hoping for a deeper ratio.

The part out is going well. I've had a lot of business. I have a buyer for the engine/tranny/tcase for 300 and that's what I paid for the Jeep.

I'm currently broke as fawk so I can only use money on the swap I make from the part out.

As soon as the garage is cleared of jeep remnants, I'll be throwing the 9" under Ranger. I'm cutting square tube for the new leaf spring perches. I'm aiming to have the springs sitting about an inch and a half over the axle. The stock and abused Ranger leaves with an add a leaf, belltech shackles, and the 2" block that came stock in the Ranger. When fitting the jeep I got U-bolts that were way too long and they'll be the perfect length.

Then it's to drive shaft shtuff.

i hope it gos well for ya, just remeber dont cut corners:nono: do it right the frist time so you dont have to keep redoing it lol.

That's the plan. After all the **** ups with the ZJ i learned a lot

Today Mitch and I tore apart the 9" and gave it a good going over. Much to our surprise:

MOLLY SHAFTS AND 4.30:1 GEARS!

We finished parting out of the Jeep today. I'm just waiting on stuff to sell and the dude to come winch the body and engine out of the garage.

I cut the old shit off the 9" and took a wire wheel to it. I'm painting it when I get done teaching guitar tonight.

Took care of the u-joints in the rear drive shaft and from our guesstamets I shouldn't need it shortened.

Saturday it's the front axle.

Sunday I'm hopin to have the Jeep winched away w/ engine, or else I have to pull it myself.

Monday I'll be swapping the 9" into the Ranger if all goes according to plan

MOOSE KNUCKLE!

I painted the axle black and where the diff cover would be on a normal axle is a yellow smiley face.

I'm headin to the local bike shop to see if I can find a 12 tooth gear of the sort.

I'm thinking of modifying the gear to fit around the drive shaft flange on the t-case end.

Cheap and easy. The way most things and women should be.

If the truck shifts and speedo works fine then I wouldnt worry about the VSS, certain years 98+ have the speedo and shifting done by a sensor in the transmission, the rear Vss is just for ABS on those years.

Thats what I figured, thanks Toreadorranger.

My fear was that there was a VSS in the front. I haven't done much work on the front, so I'm not the most familiar with it.

Sweeeeet.

Today I'm cutting off the wedges of the dana44 and cleaning her up, and hoping to paint. I'll go pull a set of hangers from the junk yard today too.

Yes, Yes I did. I tore her apart and cleaned her up today. 4.30s and mollys as well. I'm a lucky SOB.

I'll have the heep out of the work space Wed or Thurs and then it's time for the rear axle to go in.

I'm not looking forward to cutting off the radius arm wedges on the 44.

Previously Removed and now headed back in 2" blocks
