SCX24 Power Wagon

Rather than having a "helper" I tried it again with just the trigger tied back... its throwing full battery voltage to the motor.

So pretty sure it is the motor.

I haven't heard anything from Horizon/Axial yet though.

The motor if it's a brushless design, is an AC motor. If it has a lithium polymer battery each cell should not go below 2.9v/ cell. 3.7v sounds like a fully charged single cell. The battery often will bloat up if it's bad. The ESC puts out AC voltage if it has 3 like wires connected to the motor.

Question: how many wires does the motor have? 3 means it's an AC motor, 2 means it's a DC motor. Note; if it's an AC motor, nothing should happen if you connect it directly to the battery.

It only has two wires to the motor, it's brushed.

Should work with a battery directly like you tried. Yea, this is the busiest time of year for Horizon Hobbies. Hang tight.

Mini robotics is a cool hobby that you & your son will have fun with. Don't ask me about my old hand held dust buster vacuum. It was modified with old spare parts from my RC days. Shoots debris straight the filter and has a real nice "torque twist".

Finally heard from Horizon/Axial yesterday, they are sending a new motor.

Upgraded motor/trans are out for delivery today.

Sounds like you'll have to build something to use that extra motor.

And transmission.

Could be a upgrade for a 3.0 Ranger if you are interested...

I just plugged the new motor in, it works perfect. Now i just gotta gut the truck like a fish to swap it in.

Boo hoo, I’ve got to take a few screws out.

These used to only come as a kit and you had to build it yourself. Kids these days don’t know how to work on stuff because they never had to build their own toys.
-old man rant over-

Assembling ball diffs as a clumsy 10 year old certainly was a clue to how big of a pain in the ass life can and will be lol.

That’s exactly what I was getting at. Assembling ball diffs, adjusting a slipper clutch to the track, setting gear mesh… these are all skills a child should have.

I was busy with lawn mowers and dirtbikes...

What is a ball diff? Really don't want to google that term...
