anyone know where i could pick one of these up for an '88 ranger? i cant seem to find anything (includes google.)

I got one for $20 on craigslist.

One for just about any small truck will work as long as the back supports land in the right place. Going from a shortbed truck to a longbed truck may cause them to miss the wheel wells completely. They should let you trial fit it before you before you buy it. It may take awhile for one to pop up, but I think the difference in $$ is worth the wait.

Absolutly no way I would pay $300-$400 for a new one...

not to thread jack but instead of starting a new one its the same topic kind of. Does anyone know how to attach a roll bar with out cutting holes in the bed? something that is cosmetic and not really to be used.

Roll bar

Saw Stacy David on TRUCKS one show remove a roll bar from a project truck and the bar was made of PVC, I guess you could mount it with PVC glue... :haha:

I put sixteen bolts with big washers through my bed to mount my shortened and narrowed 4-footed 4" roll bar from a full sized step side, can you say STRONG ???

The bar is about 3" wider than the cab, top and sides with 3 lights on top. :icon_cheers:

I'd say just weld around where it attaches. It would be secure from moving around, and if you ever wanted it off just grind out the weld.

Im kinda liking that idea. ill just put 3 inch welds on each. thanks man

I wouldn't say "STRONG" they are all just for looks anyways, they are not real "roll bars" so it don't matter how you mount it as long as it stays on.

If you want real roll over protection (if you even need it) go with either a custom type roll bar made out of proper tubing which is triangulated and mounted to the frame or go all out and put in a cage.

If you just want a place to mount a few lights and look pretty then go ahead and put one in, just bolt it to the bed, no need to weld or cut through the bed to mount on the frame.

i still havent been able to find anything. I want to know if it will fit my truck before i buy it...and right now, im finding no way of knowing.

mine was out of a friends toyota pick up. Fits perfect, but I will eventually do a custom job that ties into a in cab cage, mount spares on it, Hi lift, protect the fuel cell, have a place for all of my tools, extra batteries, spare parts, and on board air. But for now this one does ok, strapped my spair inbetween the bars, mounted my hi lift on it, and have three off road lights on top of it.

no problems, it fits perfict, just make sure that you mesure real good. Use big washers and high grade bolts. The bar was crome, but I painted it black. Heres a pic
