What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

tested the overload capacity.
crate is 1017 lbs, add cap, mat, boards & stuff, hitch and it's over 1200 lbs.
springs are flat on the overload, axle is still 2" away from the bump stops.
rode real smooth.

Be careful what you wish for. I emailed the guy who had the truck, and this is what he emailed back:

I bet I can get it for $500, and, we can probably leave it where it is until you’re ready to come after it. If you want, I’d be happy to cover it and get the title, but I wouldn’t want to leave it down there for more than two or three months. I can rig it up with a safe Towbar and some trailer lights on the back, so all you have to do is come down with a 2 inch ball. And you can crash at my place overnight.

And let me say this straight from the heart, no BS. I’m obviously a wheeler dealer and I do this kind of crazy stuff all the time. If you’re not ready for it now, I’m sure we can find another one, this just happened to pop up. Don’t take it as any pressure whatsoever if you’re not ready to do it yet. let me know, probably best to PM me after this.

nice!

if i was close enough to help, yall could store it at my house till you were able to get it. but it never works out that anyone lives farther south then i do though, or very rarely do they

Perfect. I have a tow bar and a tow dolly. Neither would be a problem for me to bring. I’ll either have to find an extra driver to help me with the trip or a place I can stop on the way down and up and work out details, but yeah. That works.

My parents are also going to be looking for a good Explorer as soon as I can finish fixing dad’s one Ranger and they sell the current Explorer. I’ll keep you posted on that. They want a solid 4x4 or AWD Explorer that is in good shape to replace their rusty stuff and get rid of the Murano that none of us like.

I responded this to him:

It’s an hour and a half or two hours south of Atlanta. If we do this, I’ll go down and grab it before you come down and I’ll find someplace local that I can put it for a few days. Tires on it are supposed to be good.

We can figure out the Towbar thing later. I’ll keep you posted.

afterthought, if he can’t hold it, we can do it anyway, I just have to figure out where to store it for a little bit

Baby steps on the Road Ranger when the thunderstorms allow. The AC and polishing the wheels are the only two big things left, but there’s a ton of little details..

And it’s not all the walk in the park. Look at this;

I bought a box of 2500 of these self tapping 1/4-20s for $25. I’ve already used 50 or 60 of them on the various projects, and this is the fourth one that snapped off. What a pain.

Do you think I could get my money back?

Still got some stuff to do but the ranger is almost done being repainted for the show. I'm waiting on one thing to come in the mail. And have some badges I gotta dig out of my pile of parts I never used. Here is a sneak peak....

Picked up as much of my electrical gear as I could find. The overflowing bag decided to spill a few days ago in the back of my Ranger. Dumped it all into a tray, sorted it out, and now the important stuff resides in a Milwaukee Packout box where it can’t spill. I’m undecided if I’m going to get an electrical backpack and put it all in that or leave it in the Packout. Then I re-packed the bed of the Ranger with stuff I need soon. That was all I did today involving my RBVs, everything else was unrelated.

sooooo....... whatcha got in dat there crate.... asking for a friend.
all I will admit to is that Grizzly recently had stuff on sale. :icon_thumby:

the official reveal won't come until I figure out how to get it out of my Ranger and into the garage.

Got it towed home. Dropped tank, replace fuel pump. Re-install. No start/fuel psi still. Chased electric side of pump, power and ground at last connection to tank. Guess what? Tank back out in the am. Previously left some tattoos on the road and hauled wood that's way too long. Again!
