What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

An oil change.

I also tried to install my RCI skid plates. Here’s why I say “tried”.

The engine skid plate kit is missing hardware.

The transmission skid plate is missing hardware and came with stuff that aren’t even in the installation instructions.

The transfer case skid plate is missing hardware.

I would HIGHLY recommend you stay away from this company. The packaging is horrible. The finish seems ok at best. This boils down to piss-poor workmanship and quality control.

I said to my wife “How is it possible that in the days of the internet, when everyone can hear your complaints. At the same time, everything and anything can get canceled for no real reason because of a few posts. How is it possible for a half assed, piece of sh!t company to stay in business for years.”

You seem to attract all the bad stuff somehow. Do they see New Jersey and throw a target on your back?

Jacked up the front and checked for looseness. I've develop a little vibration between about 30 - 50...
Didn't find anything. The search will continue.

Check your tires for wear and roundness?

Check your tires for wear and roundness?
Roundness? Not really. I'm not even sure how I could do that accurately. Wear looks pretty even and they're nearly new. Like 400 miles... I'm thinking it may be from the back. I didn't check there. Also didn't look for signs of missing wheel weights...

To check the roundness of the tires they need to be spun. You can lift the truck and support all 4 corners and activate 4wd if you have it. Put it in gear and let the tires spin and watch from the side and look at any point on the tire and stare at it. If it has a flat spot you will see it as it rotates. For 2wd it is best to have some one spin the tire on the front while you watch from the side to see if there is a flat spot.

Hope this helps.

Sounds like a tire issue to me, out of balance or flat spot.

My turn signals went out coming home last night. Today I swapped out the flasher button and everything was working fine.

I use the tall, aftermarket, flasher buttons that are pretty loud because I’m an old fart. I only ride down the road with one of the signals going for miles when I’m driving one of the Lincolns.

But riddle me this: that’s the third or fourth flasher button I replaced on the truck in three years, and less than 5000 miles. Is that common? What’s up with that?

if I’m going to continue to have to replace them in less than a year, that’s kinda deeply dig into the 20 or 30 spares I have on the shelf in the shed of miracles.

Not normal at all. Have you checked your blinker fluid. Low fluid will burn out things in the system.

Are these "spares" you're using used parts from the junkyard or other donors? If so, their blinker fluid is old and stale.

You guys think it might need more fluid because it’s taller? Maybe my blinker fluid dip stick isn’t reading right. It’s from an OEM blinker button.

And it’s hard as hell for an old guy like me to lie upside down and backwards under the steering column and slip it in from behind the fuse panel. Any suggestions?

this is all it says in the manual:
