Apparently not many people want 8' beds any more - for 2024, the only way you can get an 8' bed is with a single cab on the F-150, the extended cab only comes with 6.5' bed now...
Most people don't want to deal with the extra turning radius that a longer wheel base has. Whether we like it or not, most people have a truck as a status symbol and want it to drive like a car or close to it. So, the manufacturers are building to that crowd.
