My credo
built her in a storage unit
im putting a carb setup on my 88 long block, the truck is a stock 4.0 setup/fuel pump. i know i need a lower pressure fuel pump, 5-7 psi from what ive read? what kind of pump do yall recommend and what kind of setup do i need for my 2bbl carb?

I'm pretty sure the 88 still had a lift pump in the tank and the high pressure on the frame rail. The lift pump will work with a carb.

Yeah, that, just pull the high pressure pump in the framerail and put something in its place and bob's your uncle...

Your 90 Ranger with a 4.0L should have a single high pressure in tank pump.

When I swapped a V8 in my 88... I installed a Holley blue pump on the frame rail and simply pulled fuel through the in tank pump. I also installed an in line pressure regulator for control of overall line pressure at the carb.

Maybe not the best way... but it worked flawlessly forever.

Oops... I'm on mobile and didn't see he had a 90 truck and an 88 block.

Doing the same but I think I have a red Holley.

In tank pump is probably the way to go but they don't last very long and are a PITA to swap out. A frame mounted pump you can easily swap in a parking lot.

Yeah, I even re read that and missed the 4.0 part... there's a bunch of Walbro low pressure in tank pumps that I'd probably trust... would likely take a little rework on the down tube
