What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

I slapped on my potential new wheel tire combo, a 33x10.5x15 Kenda RT on a 15x8-19 wheel. I have been debating between a 10.5 and 12.5 wide tire and I’m still torn. A part of me says go bigger, the other part says “don’t, you want to put a locker in the front and not break stuff every trip wheeling”.

This combo saves me 8# per corner and lets me ditch the 2” spacers I’ve been running with the crown Vic steelies I think I’ll be pretty happy.

I like those aluminum wheels on your truck. I went with 33x10.5 on my factory 15s on my '85 Ranger. I had luck and my truck has some kind of limit slip in the rear with 4:10 gears. The front was open with 4:10. I'd like to have a set of those Crown Vic wheels. Hard to find those here.

the mopar copcar wheels are kewlz too.....but.....spacers.

I actually had a hard time finding them down here too, ended up with a set that had one bent really bad and had to buy a replacement online because I couldn’t find any local.
If you want drive down and buy this set off me :sneaky:

That is why I put blue loctite on the adapter nuts.

I normally would, I’ve just been doing so much modding and pulling them on and off I havent bothered and instead just torqued to spec. They will be gone soon tho

Not being critical of anyone, just adding to the conversation. I did a lot of research on wheel spacers and wheel adapters before I put a set on my 78 Lincoln Mark v (6,000# plus pushed around by a 460/7.5 liter). The manufacturer actually called for red Loctite, holding the spacer to the car, and no Loctite holding the wheel onto the spacer. The torque on the spacer is also slightly higher than the torque on the wheel. It didn’t say it, but obviously they want the wheel to come loose before the spacer/adapter comes loose.

Since then, I have used wheel adapters/spacers several times, without any issue whatsoever, but I always use the torque wrench, and I always use the red.

Hope it helps!

your mark 5 is 6 k? mine was 4600 empty....with a 351m initially. i had a 77 cougar too i put a 428 in....it was 4200...it had the power seats ect so optioned up and heavy... so i know the mark while the same platform had alot more weight....6 k must have been an up armor version.

I’ll double check, but I know it was way up there. I might be thinking of something else, I’ve had other exotic giant vehicles.

Yes and no, split the difference.

I looked it up and the “dry weight” was 4870. Fill the 23 gallon tank at 200, then there’s my fat ass at another 270, full size spare tire, 460 instead of 400, potato chip bags and Slim Jim wrappers all over the floor….

One of the few minor changes we're making to the Ranger for the 2024 season. We needed a small drop(1½") in the rear and also a little tweak to the pinion angle. These new drop shackles will do both. Now we just have to get those !@#$%^& rear spring eye bushings out.

I'm going to have to reset the CalTracs anyway so we'll have to see what it does with the previous baseline setting. Thought I wrote it down somewhere(I think?)
