Coleman Liquid Fuel

I added these to my collection that I got at an auction Tuesday. Both the stove and lantern have the same date of 4 72. The lantern has never been used, has the original box and paperwork. Looks like the stove has been used very little.

An unfired 228!?!??? Nice score!!!

413 is my favorite stove. 426 3 burner is fun but still has the same small burner spacing of the 425.

I was in the garage tonight working on a part for my drill press and was standing next to a liquid fuel lamp so I took it to the shop... It's a Thermos brand, so apparently I don't have any Coleman liquid fuel lamps :) (I wandered around to see if I had any others, just a propane unit missing parts, have a couple other propane units around...). I know, no pics or it didn't happen, probably Saturday... I do have a couple Coleman stoves, don't remember what they are but I know where they are, might pull them out for fun and get pics of the lot...

I have this lantern, but don't know much about it. Does anyone know what kind this is or anything about this type of lantern?

I have a 425 stove that I like due to its size, but I can't find a date. Did Coleman make these stoves without dates?

That’s the kind you’re supposed to donate to me.

Date is stamped on the tank, often behind the mounting tabs

I wanna say the stoves started like in the mid 60's.

Not all of them got marked either on the case or fuel fount tabs.

Looks like that olive lantern is a Coleman MIL Spec.

Is there nothing stamped on the bottom of the fount?

Not only Coleman made those, it could be one of the other manufacturers.

My Coleman one is marked fwiw

It sure looks like a Coleman

It was a contract thing, the military doesn't like just one supplier. They all roughly look the same.

Well... I'm certainly no expert. I thought there were some visual differences between suppliers... while meeting the spec.

At the end of the day... it's all about what's stamped into it.
