04 2WD to 99 4wd swap. M5R1

You will need to read the ABS codes, the Cxxxx codes, chassis codes

You can use a wireless Bluetooth OBD2 reader like ELM327, under $15
Or an OBD2 to USB cable
With Forscan software, free to try, on a tablet or Laptop with Bluetooth

Regular OBD2 readers and software often can not read "B" and "C" and "U" codes, just "P" codes(engine codes)

If you have an automatic and engine stalled when rear wheels locked up then problem is with TCC solenoid and/or torque converter
Rear wheels locking up on hard braking with ABS light on would be expected, as there would be no Anti-lock working

ok I will look into getting a code reader like you recommended. It is a 5 speed and that instance could have been a fluke as I haven’t had it happen anymore. I just need to get my abs figured out. I would think that since I went from 2 to 4wd that my compute or the abs module wouldn’t read the sensors ( tone rings) correctly and didn’t know exactly how to fix the issue. I have looked at several forums and haven’t really saw a true definitive answer to the ABS when you 4wd swap.

The codes will tell you
No guessing and no wasted time or money on parts you don't need

4WD would not have anything to do with it
There is RABS, rear wheel only ABS
And 4WABS, 4 wheel ABS

On Rangers with RABS there was just the one ABS sensor on rear axle housing
With 4WABS there was one sensor at each front wheel but still just the one ABS sensor on rear axle housing

The 4WABS units in engine bay are the same units, 2WD or 4WD, no difference
Same for RABS
So they use the same sensors and wiring

Interesting…. You are the man. I would have thought that wouldn’t been able to interchange. So since i have 4WABS factory and there were sensors in the donor truck I may just have a bad sensor the. I will get a code reader and did into it. Appreciate it
