What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Took the Ranger yesterday to get supplies for my future garden, including bags of potting soil and mulch. Got a small greenhouse and planters on legs from Lidl. Everything's going to be above ground, except for a short row of pincob corn.

I'm in the city (actually in a residential area) and this will be the best arrangement. My neighbor and I discussed planting yesterday. He suspects the soil around us is poor. Last year his tomatoes did all right, but his peppers didn't produce. Living near chemical plants probably doesn't help. The corn will be planted with a bit of potting soil and fertilizer to account for that.

Nice to have the Ranger to do a bit of hauling as it was designed to do.
Just a quick followup.

The greenhouse and planters were assembled soon after I got them. In the greenhouse are seed-starter trays with heirloom tomatoes, long skinny eggplant, mild habanero peppers (yes, they exist, sounded interesting), zucchini, pincob corn, and two planter pots with pygmy date palms that are supposed to be fairly hardy in cool weather and produce small fruit. We seem to have had our last frost here around 10 April, when we had a couple of chilly nights.

This year the above-ground garden is experimental to see what will work here. If you guys are interested, I'll keep you posted. And recently I used the Ranger to get tomato cages and more planters.

I’m sure there are a few of us that would be greatly interest. We have a lawn and garden section to continue the discussion and what has worked and what hasn’t. I’m stepping into gardening myself and plan to do some raised beds. Probably this summer for the build and next spring for planting.

CORRECTION: It’s Farm and Garden in the Entertainment section.

Took me 20+ years but I finally got the the dang inner fenders washed.

What is this “washing your fender liners” you speak of? Doesn’t that break some kind of rule or guideline?

Don't knock it until you try it. :secret:

Do you think that will help with the rash down there?

Hopefully, cause I don't think any of US would be willing to help with THAT..

If it helps with the rash down there I will shout about it from some place very high!

Almost done with this patience testing roll bar install. Just have to fill in around where the bars go through the floor and we can get some paint on it all. Sorry about the glare off the garage windows....

Where are the shoulder belts going to be anchored? In my research I decided that having the anchor below the top of the shoulder was not good for the spine. I ended up putting a 1" bar across at shoulder height and using it to change the direction of the belt so the belt was perpendicular to my spine before bending down to anchor on the roll bar.
The lap belt is what is supposed to hold the body down. The shoulder belt is supposed to hold you back, not down. Just info for you and anyone else building cages to think about...

Going by the book on this one. As a former Tech Inspector I've got to make sure I'm completely within the rules.

NHRA/SFI seatbelt rules.

The diagram you posted confirms what I said, with a variation of 10° to 20° from horizontal. The seat back is at 25°. So the shoulder belt is actually at 95° or more relative to your spine. In your pic of your cage, where are your shoulders going to be? Compared to the horizontal bar... it may be optical illusion, but it looks to me that the bar is significantly below your shoulders, so would mean the belt would be more than 10° to 20° from horizontal (much less than 90 relative to the spine).
At least that's the way I'm reading your links rules...
At the end of the day, it's your ride and you have to feel like you did the right things to keep yourself safe. I know I spent many hours researching this subject so I felt confident in my safety when I was racing.
I rolled my truck at a not high speed and was really surprised at how much give there is in a 5-point harness. I thought I had my harness as tight as it would go. It felt like I moved at least 2-3 inches in all directions.
