Fiat 131 build

Those NOS parts.. your poor wallet.

Yeah this project is getting more expensive every day, but I want to make sure I do it right. Luckily I have been collecting parts for years, so the cost has been spread out quite a bit.

Finally got some new body panels for the car so I can start making progress again. I need to get these all fitted, bodyworked, and then I can paint the car and then assemble it.

Ha yeah in that pic it looks like a hatchback or something with the quarter off

This car is going to be amazing!

Did you acquire different body panels- I thought you'd already had these?

Nice builds, by the way. I spent a couple hours yesterday going through the 54 pages of your Ranger build (Gorgeous), and this one I've caught some of the updates over the years. Is your day job as a mechanic, engineer, machinist or something similar? It's sorta crazy how you just dive right into these major fabrications with such confidence.

Yep this is an entirely new set of body panels; the first set I bought didn't fit very well and had a number of flaws in them. I reached out to Rally Sport development UK and they made this new set for me and it's much, much nicer and the panels fit very nicely.

Thanks! The Ranger was a fun project and one I wanted to do for years. I'm a software test engineer, so sitting in front of a computer all day has just me itching to get out in the garage and work on something. I've been fortunate to learn welding, fab and body work from some very experienced people, and I've always liked to dive in and do everything myself.

Glad to see some additional progress

Me too. I've been going crazy without something to work on, so I started on a motorbike a few weeks back. It's getting put on hold itself now tho

Still need to fix some of the panel gaps and do bodywork, but they're all bolted on

Damn that's going to be a cool car!

Yeah I think so too!

Finished the underside of the car with seam sealer, single stage satin black and undercoating. This should help it last another 45 years.

I'll be putting the quarters back on this weekend and starting on primer and bodywork. Hopefully it'll be painted soon!
