Looking for opinions on the value of this 1996 Mustang Cobra

The 90s cobras are probably the least desirable.

I personally think they are Ugly compared to the 2000s. They did not come factory with the supercharger like the 2000s cobras. They didn't have the IRS like the 2000s cobras.

The only thing they really have going for them is that they did have the Aluminum four valve DOHC 4.6.

Other then that they are pretty much the same as the GT or V6, especially after all this time. Anything special about the brand of seats or shocks/ springs, fancy breaks is long gone. Since it all need rebuild at this rate.

The real value is in the engine/trans and not rusted out body.

They are coming out of cheap quick beater status... like every mustang generation before it.

Stop... I don't need any reminders about how old I'm getting lol

I will buck the trend, I like the more rounded bodystyle. The just look clean/sleek.

My ‘94 Cobra is not even a 4.6L… it’s a 5.0L.
The fact that it’s a Cobra is the special part. The fact that it’s got the right brake boost and master to go with the bigger brakes makes it special. Most people will do a big brake swap and it will be “close enough”, but let me tell you… all the right parts make a difference.
The fact that it has Cobra seats with magnesium frames to save weight over LX/GT seats makes it special, even if you have to recover them.
The fact that it has the rear deck lid without the 3rd brake light (the brake light is in the wing on the early models.) makes it special.

There are a lot of little differences that most people just never see or know about. Just because you overlook them, doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

I own a 94, but I still think that body style is ugly… it was quick, cheap, and available when I was looking.

So a couple weeks ago my Brother-in-law bought a '03 Terminator Cobra.
He's your brother-in-law, can't the 2 of you come to some mutual arangement that doesn't include greenbacks?

I don't think there that bad looking at all.I bought a salvage 95 gt for my v8 swap and it barely had any damage on it for 2 grand with only 80k on it.i wouldn't pay much more then maybe 2500 just because it's a cobra. Besides that i wouldn't look twice at it for the mileage and what it needs.

$2000k is way to rich for me, especially for a salvage car. :shok:

How does that not look good??

96 was the first year for the mod motor in the Cobra.

Original seats are gone.

Like you said, breaks can be replicated. Anything you want can.

Your right, problem isn't that there is nothing special about the cobra. Problem is that most of it is lost to time. That's why I originally said I would be willing to pay three grand, because it's not rusty and it's a cobra.

At the end of the day it still needs to rebuild the diff, trans, engine, and probably the suspension.

The body is just a shipping crate… sorta like Ram trucks are shipping crates for Cummins engines.

$3k is a reasonable price.
