So much car debt!!!!!

i agree. we had a 70 something Lincoln tonn car we used to pull the ski and scuba boats to the launch, when i was in high school. when not pulling boats, i used it to carry surfboards to topsail or emerald island. you could put 4 or 5 people in each row of seats and all the boards in the trunk. and the ride was smooth.

gas mileage, mmmm not so great. but, if you wanted to go, it went quickly

2000rpm @ 80mph in my ‘03 Grand Marquis. Awesome cruiser.

it definitely catches your eye in the ranger when you are doing 80 and the rpms are at 3k and you are used to a v8

It’s more of a gearing thing then an engine size thing.

but the gearing might be because of the drag the truck produces between its shape and the parasitic stuff like the mirrors, underside, and low pressure area behind the cab when on the highway.

the cars using the 3.0 might have a lower rpm on the highway?

Yes because they are geared different.

It dont matter if its a 460 or a 2.3 given the same speed, tire size, and gearing both will be turning the same RPM.

Being a big boat of a granny car, Ford probably specifically wanted a quiet, slow turning engine. The engine in that thing was made out of pure torque. Got into the 200s at like 3k rpm. Heck it makes more hp at 2k than the Lima does full bore. Never downshifted on any hills on the interstate.

I tipped 85 with rusty on the freeway going to jackson according to my GPS speedo....

definantly not "just cruiseing along" though.

Curious....what kinda mileage you get from it? Ive been reading 25-28 if you keep your foot out of it and run 70.

It's been awhile, my GPS was pretty close.

It was kind of a monumental thing, it wouldn't hold 55.up a hill when I got it and 20+ years later here I am running 70+ on the interstate in friggen Illinois.

You think car/truck prices are insane, this thing cost me $25K cash:

72240

thats 25k you won't see again. golf carts are 1500 bucks

And you can't even drive it on the street
I’m thinking about putting a Bronco II body on it and registering it. It will do 75mph (closer to 90, if I get a tune to remove the speed limiter.)

that would be awesome

I can sell my other one for what I paid for it in ‘16. It’s a sellers market right now.
