Cut it out

We were told to take a bit of a lighter touch because people used to complain about how the moderators were power junkies. So instead of it turning into a biker bar, it turned into an afterschool program for the cast of Highschool Musical. It's driven a lot of people away.

If you want to whine, bitch, or say irrelevant things, hang out in the Garage. The helpful and intelligent things get lost in the crap. If you don't know what you are talking about, move on to the next post. Even though the world is packed with super-geniouses, it's possible there will be things you aren't knowledgable on. Don't post "Oh, it's probably the blue wire because blue is my favorite color (lol) and hopefully someone will come around and help that knows (ROTFLMFAS)". Whatever.

And first and foremost--GO BUILD SOMETHING! For chrise sake, you know your grandma used to say idle hands are the devils workshop? Just sitting in here, typing and drinking Coors Light makes you fatter, say dumb things and brings down the morale of the site.

been here since the beginning. don't really post much anymore, i guess i don't have a lot to say. i mostly search & study. drama increases as membership does, pretty inevitable. i've noticed a lot of pissing matches, but i just ignore it. mainly because i don't care, and its a major waste of time. if it looks really bad, report it to a moderator.

when the attention whores don't get attention, they usually take it somewhere else. :icon_thumby:

I know I haven't been around as long as many of the other members. I bought my Ranger last December and found this site soon afterwards when I ran into my first problem. The tech help on here is absolutely invaluable. With so many members here, and plenty of mechanics, it's hard to find an RBV question that no one can answer. Frankly I'm grateful to find a source of information like this. However I also agree that some of the petty fights that get started on here (I know I've been involved in them also) detract from the very foundation of what this site is. The debates and dirty jokes can be fun but leave them in The Garage! or the Entertainment section. That's what they're there for. One last thing that I have noticed a lot is when someone attempts to offer tech advice and gets a detail wrong, others who find that fault will jump down their throat calling that person a dumbass. At least he/she tried. Sorry to call out names but MAKG does this a lot. Telling someone how stupid they are for trying does not help anything. Just point out the fault and it becomes a learning experience and then it's over with. Just my 2 cents on the topic at hand.

+1. we all can't be genius', we try to help with the info we have, whether it works for next person, who knows. sometimes the easiest fix isn't even in the book and because it's not, most people don't think of it, and for the guy who does think of it and offers the solution and gets called a dumbass, thats not politically correct either. he offered a solution that worked for him, just cuz it ain't in the "book" doesn't mean it don't work or that it is mechanically unsafe. turning wrenches isn't rocket science, it's flying by the seat of your goshdarn pants. people are coming up with "new and improved" methods all the time. :icon_thumby:

He does.

PS- What the hell happened to MAKG? He was on here constantly all winter and now he barely posts.

I went on vacation. Believe it or not, there are places in the US where there is no internet. And no cell phone service. I found a bunch of them.

I find it amazing considering some of the places in the world where there IS internet. I have a photo of an internet cafe in Hoi-An, Vietnam, from 2005.
