2003 2wd 170k. it also had some stupid (viper?) anti theft button under the dash and reverse beeper that i partially disabled. it’s the EDGE edition, whatever that’s worth.

The issue is anytime a battery is hooked up it fires (what sounds like) the blinker relays at random. it will do it often enough to kill the battery. no lights come on in the dash or headlights/turn signals, just the sound. the blinkers and hazards all work fine as they should. the clicking sound has a soul of its own.

I replaced the multifunction switch and it still has the same issues. i went under the kick panel and found the smaller fuse box and pulled some of those. i thought i pulled the one that controlled it and drove around with out it and it still was clicking.

anybody ever have any similar issues ?

The truck may have had an aftermarket keyless entry system (or an alarm system) installed at some point. Some of these have to have the remotes reprogrammed in whenever the battery is disconnected, and can use the lights as an indicator.

Try tracking down the source of the clicking. If it's an aftermarket control module, unplugging it should stop the clicking. Even if most of such a module's wires have been disconnected (like the truck's lights, doorlocks or siren) it will still click (an onboard relay) if it still has power and ground.

I’m with Robbie on this... it sounds like an aftermarket alarm is going off, but there’s no siren. Find the relay or module that’s making the noise and post a pic.

I bet it's trying to blow the horn.

Yep. It's trying to fire a siren or horn. I have an aftermarket Code Alarm system and had to replace the original ignition switch. Now when I get the keys screwed up it fires the siren. If I disconnect the siren, you can hear the relay until I hit the disconnect button under the dash.
