Truckspotters

I pass a little used car lot just up the road every day and this showed up last week. Finally stopped to look at it this morning. From some of the "make it look shiny" techniques I see on this, I don't think I care much for the guy. But anyway... it's an '84 with 86k showing on the odometer. Frame is cleaner than my 93. Very obviously a southern truck and well cared for. 2.3l, 5spd. A/C. Would make an awesome dd for me if I was in the market. Dealer said someone just put a retainer on it this morning. Selling for $5500.

That's the colour scheme my '85 had before it was repainted. Although the light brown might have been lighter. The old colour scheme was visible inside the doors.

The story is that whomever owned it before my grandfather had been in an accident, bought it back, fixed it, painted it the colour you see in my profile picture, and sold it to Grandpa. He bought it, drove it for the rest of the summer as a DD, parked it for the winter, and in the summer never restored it to DD status. That winter, I needed to replace my car, so I started driving the truck.

What is the metal thing that looks like a spotlight handle in the roof console?

I dont think this thing should be on the road, its really bad.... the pinch welds folded and collapsed when it lifted from rust.

Well at least we know why in the glorious city of Chicago nobody has stolen that spare tire...

Not a truck, but since we are talking bullet holes.. this car was next door to the building where my son has guitar lessons a few days ago. It was at an auto mechanics and it's a Chevy so maybe the owner was ticked at it for not running right.
7 bullet holes...

WOW! dads ‘96 big bronc wasnt that much new. looks like a “explorer” pkg with those stripes. Never seen a camper kit on one.

its probably not super interesting to you guys but it kind of is to me because it the exact model color and drive train (besides the bug shield and canopy) to my dads first truck witch he spent many many many years building into his dream truck but it was sadly sent to to the scraper because we had it parked at a friends house and he got drunk and scraped it :(
