Transmission Jerking... Should I flush? Replace? or Something Else?

That's not entirely true, ford gladly sells 10ml of XL-16 transmission fluid additive for $80 bucks to fix their stupid noisy 6R80's...

I assume I wouldn't need this fluid for my transmission right?
Getting a mechanic to fix my oil leak is going to range between 500-1200 so I'm trying to save up for that. 500 if it's the Oil Pan Gasket Seal (since they have to pull the engine), O already got the new seal and oil, so the charge is labor only. if it's the seal between the transmission/engine, then it's like $20 for the seal and 1160-ish for labor.

Did I misread something? The transmission pan gasket certainly doesn't require pulling the engine. Was that for the engine oil pan?

It's a 2 part

lol it's a 2 part issue.

I have an oil leak, but I do not know if it's coming off the Oil Pan Gasket, or the Gasket between the Engine and Tranmission.

The main issue on this post was that my transmission was jerking going above 45mph, but I found that one of my spark plug wires on the distributor was loose and I shocked myself when I was pouring transmission fluid in and my hand ended up popping the wire off and me getting shocked (engine was running lol).

I'm leaning towards the seal between the engine and transmission since when I poured transmission fluid in, some of the fluid poured onto the concrete under the truck so yea.

The truck runs fine (so far), I just want to preserve it.

The fluid leak is oil (brown/black) or ATF (red/purple)?

Well when I poured the transmission fluid in, it was red/purple.. I don't know if I just missed the hole, or if the funnel overpoured without me knowing (since I was using one).

It just happened that one time so far that I've seen.

As for the oil, it's solid black, but majority comes down the backside of the engine that the transmission connects to the engine, I tried to clean it up to better isolate, but I can't really tell.

Unless I'm misunderstanding you, the transmission fluid spill when filling is unrelated to the question of oil pan vs engine to transmission leak (I think you're referring to the rear main?).

Possibly. I'm mechanic ignorant but trying to learn lol.
I do plan to take it to a local mechanic next week to have it checked out (he's doing the inspection/diagnostic free of charge).
So I can report then.

Thank you for the info. So when I just drop the pan, drain, replace the filter, and refill.. Would the technical term be "transmission change" like the same concept of Oil Change?

I know this is a little off topic, but is there a way I can tell the model of my transmission without having to drop it?
Transmission service or transmission fluid change would explain it.

Go to the auto parts store and get a can of brake clean spray. Clean everything off down there (don’t breathe it and wear eye protection). After a few days/trips get back under and see if you can tell where the leak is coming from.
