2.8 refuses to start?!?

i have an 83 2.8 and it has compression, spark and fuel but it wont catch it just cranks over...is there a special way to time this "cologne" motor or whatever it is?

Does it even attempt to fire? How's the timing chain?

well i have read on several accounts that there isnt a timing chain, but a gear in its place...Either way the rotor button still spins so i ruled that out...today i got the truck running after dumping a gallon of gas in the carb and twisting the distributor with my hand. But it still runs rough...

yeah i read that before i posted just to make sure...im interested in the duraspark conversion what are the benifits? and are the steps of the swap documented anywhere?

the benefit for me was eliminating the computer,sensors,vacuum lines and relays,and the 2150 feedback carb.

all the parts are listed in the link above and i bought mine from napa,including connectors for module and distributor.

expect to spend $500 to $600.post questions here in the 2.8 forum if you get stuck,and read the other posts.good info!

thanks but the danger ranger is gonna be a gas saver...does this effect mileage? And if so how much, because $600 will buy that nice steering stabilizer ive had my eye on for the mud truck haha

Mileage should stay the same,just no codes to deal with or sensors.

One more thing,$600 included a new carb,rebuilt carbs will save you some $.
