I have inherited some old tools from both of my Grandpa's. I have an old brace (think hand drill) that has a ratcheting feature on it plus a few bits that are quite beat up. the shank of hte bits is a tapered square. several old early Craftstman sockets. I also have a Craftsman tool set that my Dad gave grandpa for Christmas in 1965. has some really good quality Craftsman wrenches and sockets/ ratchets, a glass cutter similar to Dirtmans, ignition wrench set, a Ford distributor wrench and assorted other tools. I have a 1950s era Craftsman table saw (8 inch blade) and it has a cast iron top. as of the early 1990s, I was able to get parts for it at Sears to repair the tilt mechanism that was stripped out.
I also have a Craftsman circular saw and the reciept for it that Grandpa had. bought it new in 1965 for $35. Also a matching Craftsman drill from the same era, no receipt. both with aluminum frames/ housing. As mentioned in the Air compressor thread, I also have the 220 volt Craftsman 20 gallon air compressor that Grandpa used in the machine shop on his farm in northern Wisconsin.
Most of my tools are from the 80s and 90s that I bought as a teenager or young man or received as Christmas/ Bday gifts. I have also bought tools here and there as needed for projects over the last 35 years. I have quite the collection for an amateur.... some day I will have to post my excel sheet that I have to list and track them all.
