Little different then you expected huh? Lol....and imagine that...no terrain management, no abs, crawl modes, fancy selectable lockers. GPS, or other BS.

What would be left of an FX4 ford or trailboss silverado after attempting the same feat? Nothing but a trail of plastic.

These guys literally climbed a mountain with nothing but grit, steel, and brass nuts. Preciesly why trucks are a joke today.

Men were Men, and Trucks were Trucks !:yahoo:
Notice trey're using a link chain on on the cable end to wrap around the anchor points.

That looked like a fun trip.

Probably go to jail if you did that now.....

Never mind what OSHA would have to say about the guys riding in the bed, and on the running boards

We went up Pikes Peak in a rwd GMC Safari, it did fine...

I wonder if they had to stop and re-jet the carb a few times along the way......

nope, just play with the manual choke to change the mixture.
which probably got real interesting at higher altitudes.

Choking it at high altitude would only aggravate the issue. Unless they jetted it real lean at sea level and ran it under choke till they got up high.

That was a nice looking truck. Even if it was a Chevy.

I’m not sure a modern stock truck could pull that off.

CHEAT!!!!!!!! Can't claim that the truck made it to the top if they had to use the WINCH to get it through part of the trip up!

Could a modern truck do it? Who cares?

But can it comfortably carry a family of four from their home on Long Island, at 90 mph, down the NJ turnpike to their weekend home in Maryland while towing their 30’ cabin cruiser?

straight sixes. I wonder how low the gears were.

With 90hp (and dropping as it gained altitude) it couldn’t hurt anything if it wanted to.

No but thats why god invented station wagons.

A country squire could. Maybe not at 90mph but no one needs to tow anything large over 55-60 anyways.
